Many plusses
By FAC, 12/17/08
My wife and I have stayed her several times. The location is great unless you prefer to be in the center of things eg Times Sq. or the Village. Subway is a few blocks. It is mostly a residential neighborhood. Lobby is tiny and unimpressive, not like a classic hotel--this was an apartment building. Value is excellent, rooms are spacious especially multi-room suites. Housekeeping is excellent. Decor average. Well equipped kitchen. If you are staying for a few days and want to live like a Manhattanite instead of a tourist, this is a great place .

Great place to stay
By Sidney, 02/28/08
My wife and I have stayed here a couple of times and it is a favorite of ours. The "small" suites are really very roomy, and the larger ones are huge. We got one of the large ones, having booked a small one on this last trip - I guess it was just available and they gave it to us. The square footage for the price - even for the small suites - is outstanding for NYC. There is a decent fitness center, and an okay business center in the lobby. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful. The halls are a little drab but who cares? The location is excellent (close to Grand Central station). Dollar for dollar I don't know of a better hotel in the city, and I go there a lot since it's my home town (but I don't live there anymore).

We would go back again!
By Mac, 11/14/07
Our girls' weekend, (daughters, granddaughters & sisters) was an awesome experience. The Eastgate hotel's staff, large 2 bedroom suite, was more than we had expected. I travel a lot and even though the rooms' furnishings were a little dated and the bathrooms small, I was very impressed with the excellent lighting in all the rooms. My daughter has a friend living in New York and our suite was larger than her entire apartment. The only suggestion I have is more comfortable mattresses. But we would go back again. Really Friendly Staff
By patrick k, 08/02/07
Every staff member was sooo nice. I think they should be recognized for such warm and friendly service. Always a couple of male employees in the Lobby made us feel very safe! I am a single Dad who traveled with an 8 year old daughter and a 7 year old son! Wonderful Stay!!!

We will go back!
By Nancy, 07/09/07
My family & I stayed at Eastgate for 4 nights. We reserved a junior suite which included a full kitchen with dishes, pots, pans, silverware, glasses, wine glasses, cork screw, coffee maker, microwave full sized fridge and even a toaster! The main sleeping area included a queen-sized bed and the living room area had a sleeper sofa, sitting area, desk and dining room table/chairs nearer to the kitchen. We could'nt believe the value for money! It had everything we needed and more. The service was professional and friendly and the outdoor dining area which was part of the restaurant was great for having a few drinks at night. (a bit pricy though) Everything was in walking distance.. Grand Central Station about 10 min, Japanese, chinese, pizza place, dunkin donuts and deli's right around the corner! (Go to Ming's Delight chinese take out.. cheap and very good food)! The best deli to go to is "Sarge's" which is about a 5-10 min walk from the hotel. (turn left out of the hotel, then left again and stay on that side.. you'll see it! As far as the various comments for this hotel.... yes, some of the rooms are a little dated.. but they are clean, spacious and all that you need when you're in NYC. Where else can you get a suite for $100/night in midtown NYC during the summmer???? I would rate this hotel 3 1/2 stars on decor, 4 stars on service and 5 stars on location and value! Upon checking out, they even ordered us a luxury car to take us back to the aiport which cost us $65 including tolls and tip!!

We were very happy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/27/07
The staff was very nice and helpful. When we visited the hotel was not full and we received a free upgrade to a two bedroom suite. It was FANTASTIC. Also, we arrived in the morning and were allowed in our suite at 10 am without an addition charge. I know this could not happen if it was a busy period or if the hotel was booked full, but how nice that they go an extra mile when possible. The hotel is in a very good location although an avenue or two to the west would have been ideal. Make no mistake, this hotel provides functional suites. It is not a well appointed suite, but it was very clean. Also, the rooms are nice and large unlike many of the very small roomms found in NYC. We would stay again.

Great for a family. Mini-kitchen and frig in room.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/18/07
We enjoyed staying at this hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and the neighborhood felt very safe. It's a short walk to all the mid-town attractions and United Nations. We appreciated the mini-kitchen and frig in the room. This saved loads on dining out, especially breakfast for the kids. We could fix something easy without dragging everyone out the nearby restaurants. We found this place through a Yahoo Search and believe we got a good deal. Parking was about $35/day and connected to the hotel. Here's a secret dining experience for anyone visiting the area. At the Le Parker Meridien, a fancy hotel near Carnegie Hall, they have this awesome burger joint in the corner of the lobby hidden behind a wall. Cash only but the burgers and fries were fantastic. The kids rating this restaurant at the top of their list for fun places to go and delicious food.

A thumbs up!!!
By Sofia, 03/28/07
Went during 07 Spring Break with two 11 year old girls. The Studio Room was perfect with 2 queen beds, full bathroom, and kitchen. The staff was adorable and always attentive. Beds were confortable and rooms were cleaned everyday! Price was surprisingly affordable for the location. Plenty of inexpensive places close by to eat and the Pizza delivery business had great NY Pizza! Definitely recommend the Eastgate Tower for the family who is working on a budget. You will not feel you went cheap. A thumbs up!!!

Will definitely go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/09/07
The staff was friendly, room service was great, and best of all - it was very clean. I will definitely go back. The only thing that could have been better - bed was uncomfortable - cheap mattress.

Best Kept Secret in Mid-Manhattan
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/28/07
The price was excellent! The location is good because you are in the middle of everything. Getting Taxi's is tough on your own because its about 200 meters from the main strips, but the Doormen, and especially Vincent, go out of there way to help you with that and everything else. Real Professionals. Grand Central Station is only about 2 blocks by 2 blocks away. Ask the Doormen where you want to go on the subway because the Terminal Staff is not very helpful. I dont think their 2 star rating is fair. We got 5 start treatment. The rooms are great and bigger than I expected for the price in NYC. Pet friendly. All have kitchenettes with all utensils. Very similar to our time shares we visit. If you are not planning on staying in your room the whole time then there is no real reason to check elsewhere. Travelocity's info on this place is bad. They have dining and workout area. Just a few hundred feet up there are to great places to eat..The Frontier and the Black Angus. Dunkin Donuts for my favorite coffee. Meals starting at $5 to $25. Unless you need the ritz and have money to burn. This is the place to stay.
