I thought I was going to get shot...
By Poison Ivy, 10/27/09
I really didn't like anything about this hotel. I start to think the positive reviews were written by thier staff. I had never been to Syracuse so I didn't know what areas of the city were good and bad; from what I could tell this part was not pleasant. I didn't feel safe leaving my room at night as the first night I was there it seemed like a crazy man was upstairs yelling on his phone and when I tried to fall asleep there was some huge array of cop cars and ambulances right outside my window. I have never done this in my life but I actually propped a chair and other furniture up against the door to make myself feel safer. I did not see any restaurants in the immediate vicinity and the room was just dingy and small. They promote wireless internet but its not really wireless if you need an ethernet cord which I no longer own so that made it rather difficult to use the internet anywhere except for at the desk. The staff lied saying there was a printer available for use which I intended to use to prepare for my interview. I would never never ever stay here again in one million years.

Great Value
By 69 Honda, 11/14/08
I stay in motels about 80 nights a year. Usually Choice properties. I generally stay away from the Econo Lodge brand as you never quite know what you’re going to find. The Econo Lodge University is an exception. I've stayed there several times over the past three months and have found the location exceptional to the downtown district with a bevy of restaurant and night life in close proximity. The rooms are starting to show their age but the mattress was thick, plush, and very comfortable. The high speed internet was fast and I've had no issues. The neighborhood is quiet but borders a not so great area of the city. Safety shouldn't be a concern as there’s only one way to get into and out of the property and theirs a half dozen cameras located in the parking lot. An employee is on duty all night watching whose coming and going. I think this property is a great value for the money and will continue to stay there on each trip into Syracuse.

surprisingly good
By Viraj, 7/14/08
I went in the econolodge praying i wouldn't find a problem. I was extremely surprised at how nice everything was. The when the shuttle brought me to the hotel, the exterior looked far too nice for an econolodge. The staff was very friendly and there was internet connection in the room, so it wasn't too hard to get my work done. The location was also nice because it was extremely close to a number of nice restaurants. I went to the Dino BBQ, it was AWESOME! Go to this place, you'll be surprised it's an Econolodge

Service Was Awful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/30/07
I'm a pretty clear guy, and I swear the guy at the front desk was constantly yelling at me, as if I was a complete idiot. On the phone, he yelled at me. When I asked to have two beds in the room instead of a king size, he yelled at me. Maybe there was a language barrier, but in the service industry, it is important to be somewhat welcoming. Oh well.

keith urban trip
By CAROL V, 9/7/06
I LOVED THE HOTEL. THE BEDS WERE SOFT AND SERVICE WAS GREAT, BUT THE FREE BREAKFAST WAS NOT THAT GREAT. IF YOU GET UP LATE BEFORE BREAKFAST IS OVER THERE IS NO MORE FOOD, EXCEPT BAGELS COLD EGGS.

pleasent stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/24/06
staff very courteous and helpful. great direction sheet that was made available that gave acurate and concise directions to major areas in syaracuse. rooms were comfortable and clean. hotel was quiet. needs minor exterior work to touch up the look but otherwise a very passable and convenient place to stay.
