haunted by deteriation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/11
The location was great. Close to SUNY-Binghamton. Nice local bars/nightlife across the street. Some of the architecture is amazing. Beds were clean and comfy.. however they need to power wash the carpets. Bleach every surface. Rip off the old and nasty and try refurish it. Breakfast looked dangerous. We passed it up. We wont stay here again. We will cheer on anyone who will take it over and make it work to it's potential!

Would NEVER return...and don't recommend
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/21/11
The idea of fixing this old building into a cool hotel is laudable but they are NO WHERE close. Also, the breakfast is mostly prepackaged and nothing fresh and they were out of coffee at 9 AM...and we have to wait a good 20 minutes even after asking the desk clerk. The customer service is not very good. Carpets are filthy and spare beds were in the halls. We had food left in our refrigerator. the beds were comfortable and clean. We were charged $200 as we were accused of smoking in our room although we do not smoke AT ALL. I have called the hotel TWICE and left messages for the manager and he has not called me back and it is now day three.

Spooky!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/17/07
This hotel looked like a haunted mansion from the outside and the inside. The inside hallways are filled with black and white portals. I couldn't sleep because I was scared. I had to leave all lights and television on!! The location is great - city hall down the block and restaurants/bars all across the street. It definitely wasn't worth the $83/night I paid.

Beware of Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/22/06
List of things went wrong: 1. They lost my reservation 2. The room I was given was a smoking room in the recently flooded basement. MMMMMMM smells of smoke and mildew. 3. To look out the 1'x2' window you needed a step ladder. 4. Blood and urine stains are disturbing when on your fresh linen 5. Food stains on walls 6. Cigarette ashes in bath tub 7. Plumbing sounds of rattling pipes and people upstairs urinating 8. No managers reception as guaranteed 9. No continental breakfast 10. Internet did not work

Neat old place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/3/05
I enjoy staying in historical hotels, The Grand Royale was the original court house for Broome County. Service is good and the location is easy to find. Parking is free at the adjacent public garage with a vocher from the hotel.
