Great Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/4/11
It was a great hotel, I stayed there a few nights. I paid for most of it with a free gift card that I got from ESPN. I think they're still giving them out at nflgiftcards.info, hurry before they run out!

Great Location Everything Else Okay
By Coley, 1/26/10
This hotel is in the best location in Albany. Although, I never got the information from anyone there, I finally figured out my last day there that I could walk to the capitol building and then use the underground concourse to get many more places in the city. The hotel is in serious need of repairs and updating. The staff was mostly nice, but occassionaly made me feel uncomfortable for using their breakfast area as a meeting spot. It was really the only area that was acceptable for me training one other person. I have never had that problem before. There was black mold near the window, the room was generally dirty, and the lighting was not great. I had to really work to get a useable plugin for all of my electronic devices. I would say this hotel is better suited for tourist than business people. The means of getting from the parking garage to the hotel was not extrememly convienient. I enjoyed my view and the location most.

It's a decent business travel hotel
By George, 1/22/09
Well, it's a very old hotel but they have refurbished it to pretty good condition. We'll definitely come back if we have to go around Albany. Of course, there are some many new hotels around the area, u might want to find something newer.

Not what I would expect
By Megan, 2/5/08
I'm not usually a complainer, and I've seen much worse places, but little things went wrong the entire time I was at this hotel. My non-smoking room reeked of smoke, and there were cigar wrappers in the nightstand drawer--obviously someone didn't clean that out between patrons. The nice "sleep kit" left on my bed was missing half the items my coworkers had in their rooms, and the ear plugs had been used! Disgusting! When I called downstairs to tell them what I'd found, they didn't do anything in response, but bring me another sleep kit. They mentioned the entire hotel was booked that night so they couldn't move my room. I was definitely not feeling comfortable with the sanitation of the room. The next morning after showering, with sopping wet hair, I discovered there was no blow dryer in my room. When I called downstairs, they acted like I was crazy and didn't know what I was looking for as they tried to describe for me what a blow dryer looks like. While at the bar, the bartender was an older woman who was ABSOLUTELY miserable. When we asked if we could order, she said yes, and then walked away from us without so much as a smile. We really weren't sure if she was going to come take our order or not. She helped some gentlemen down the bar and then strolled over to take our order. When I asked for a second beer, she refilled the glass I was drinking from--gross--with Budwieser when I asked for a Miller Lite. When I brought it to her attention, she smirked, dumpeb the Bud out and refilled the same glass with Miller. The next night my room was SO hot and I couldn't get the temperature down. When I called down they said, "open a window". I was on the 13th floor, and there weren't any screens. Additionally, there was Christmas music playing downtown 24/7. Finally, on my last morning at the hotel, the lamp lightbulb burnt out. Just one more thing to add to the list. Again, nothing was ever done for me to correct any of the issues, which was disappointing to say the least. I would have expected more from a Crowne Plaza.

Rude manager
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/23/07
The manager when first checking in was very rude. We asked for 2 adjoining rooms with double beds, non smoking 2 2/2 months prior to getting there and when we got there they either had a king sized bed rooms or smoking rooms with double beds. We didn't even get adjoining rooms. We had to stay in the smoke room as there were 5 of us and we needed beds to sleep on. So we had to suffer in the smoke filled rooms. It was very expensive also, 190 a night for a room.

Don't expect anyone to go out of their way for you...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/15/06
Don't be fooled; the hotel is positioned in the heart of downtown and is in walking distance to all of the great area attractions, like the NY State Museum, the Art & History Museum, the State Capital, etc. and has a decent bed, but it is not an "accommodating" hotel. For instance, we needed a small fridge in our room for medication. Had it been requested for anything other than a medical reason, the charge would be $20 / night. When the hotel management brought the fridge in and set it up, they were laughing as soon as they shut our door--the joke was on us since they turned the cooling dial to "max." Luckily, my husband noticed this and turned it down to "3" to keep things from freezing (pretty sadistic if you ask us.) Also, the hotel operates on "winter" and "summer" temps meaning if you are staying there like we were in May and it is hot in your room, the plaque by the thermostat suggests that you open the window. How can you sleep in DOWNTOWN with the window open? You can't. In addition, we filled out our in-room breakfast request and hung it on the door at approximately 8 pm the night before. Our breakfast never came. We opened the door and it was still hanging there, but someone did find the time to slip our bill under the door. The indoor pool was closed and the business center was closed also (for the entire six days we were there.) When it came time to leave, the hotel shuttle driver informed us that we had missed the 4 pm shuttle (we didn't, it was parked outside) and made us wait until the flight crew that was staying there came down for the next shuttle at 4:30 pm. We did manage to make it to the airport by 5:05 pm for our 6:30 flight. The hotel management sucked. The waitstaff in the restaurant, especially a lady named Karen who took care of us when our in room breakfast request was ignored, and the housekeeping staff were all very friendly and helpful. They have the monopoly on location, but the rest is just ok.
