Best place in Taos
By peggy, 06/17/09
Loved it because it has everything! Everything promised was delivered. A great room, wonderful food, free live music, along with the best margaritas in the state and the friendliest service. This is my favorite spot in Taos to hang out at.

Wouldn't go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/19/09
I heard this was suppose to be a great romantic inn for Taos, but I quickly learned otherwise. The walls and windows were paper-thin and all noises imaginable were heard. They were so thin that we heard some guy walk outside our window farting and it sounded like he was in our room. Also, the bathroom door wouldn't shut completely, so if you haven't gotten to seeing/hearing those things with your significant other, you will by the time you leave. We also put a do not disturb sign on our door, only to return from shopping to see it was removed and the room was cleaned. The second day we were there the maid was standing in our open doorway on her cell phone. There are bands that perform nightly, so if you think you will be tired from spending the day on the slope and want some quiet romantic time, don't stay in one of the rooms connected to the main building. The room was also pretty warm even though we had it at the lowest setting possible and the bedspread smelled of smoke. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were not any better. The food at Doc Martins was pretty good compared to some of the other local restaurants, but my favorite was the restaurant in the square. Overall, I was not pleased w/ my stay there and would try a different hotel or motel next time I'm in Taos.

Beware of the Fireplace!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/11/08
We booked a room with the fireplace but was told we could not use because "it wasnt cold enough". It was down into the 40's at night and we were unsatisfied with thier false advertising. We are from Florida .....40 is freezing!

A bad day in Taos
By Dave, 03/31/08
I arrived at the Taos Inn on March 22,2008 about 2PM in the afternoon, the young male at the counter couldn't be bothered to talk with me and told me to come back in a couple of hours, I asked if I could see my room and drop off my bags and he gave me a nod and said it's back there and went on with his business, never showing me my room, so I left and found food elsewhere. I came back two hours later and met another host who showed me to my room 206. In the photo it shows the room decorated in Southwestern style with fireplace etc. see photo. When I walked in the room it had been decorated to look Like I was staying in India with elephants, printed fabric from India and the bed made up with a dozen pillows and all I needed was a belly dancer to complete the picture. What happen to my southwestern room. We changed it. Was the response. I didn't come here to visit India I came for the southwestern experience. I was given another room 107, which was decorated in southwesrn fashion, but the heater didn't go below 80 degrees. so the kiva fireplace with it's four little pieces of wood, which could be replaced for $7.00 a bundle of 4, could not be used, as for Doc. Martins, be sure you have enough cash or a lot of money on your credit card. after asking for a room change the staff was not very friendly and cool at best and not quite hostile, never would I think of going back

The best place to stay in Taos!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/09/06
My family has been going to Taos for vacation for over 40 years. We come about 4 times a year, summer and winter. Any time of year this is the best place to stay! We have always loved the Taos Inn, it is the best place to stay for a true Taos experience. The rooms are gorgeous and very clean, the staff is so friendly and you cannot beat the location in the heart of Taos. Their website does a great job describing the rooms, including which have working fireplaces and which do not. There is something for everyone, quiet rooms in the Sandoval House for a romantic getaway or a kid-friendly family vacation and fun rooms in the main building for enjoying the nightlife. We love it and have stayed in several rooms. We've never had a problem with any part of any visit! This is the best place to stay in Taos, you'll love it! The Vlachs, Corpus Christi, Texas.

My husband's favorite hotel.......ever!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/19/05
Three of our family members stayed at the Taos Inn for the 2nd time, and we just love it. The first time we stayed in rooms along the courtyard, which are beautiful, have working fireplaces, but way too quiet and peaceful for our family, so this time we stayed in the main building where the restaurant, bar , music and lively, fun atmosphere takes place.....rooms 102, 103, 116. We love the rooms, the drinks, the food, the music, the location and especially the friendliness of the staff. Oh, and check out the tall, skinny guy cooking in the bar, he really moves, and is fun to watch. Location and true feel of Taos
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/15/05
Beautiful place and wonderful location. Has a lot of history and ambiance. The rooms are quaint and the staff very friendly. A great place to stay and see the heart of Taos. Doc Martins restraunt was amazing and the famed Adobe Bar is certainly the center of nighlif in Taos. Great local favor and highly recommended.

Not as advertised
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/29/05
The Historic Taos Inn was definitely not what we expected based on the website information and a phone call. “Historic” means old, dilapidated, and run-down. Room 101 has no working fireplace, inadequate air conditioning that did NOT cool the room at all (a cheap, low BTU, ancient conditioner), cheap fixtures throughout, low water pressure, and filthy carpet and bedspreads. The pool is not usable (no water), and be warned that the “entertainment” is right next to the main building’s rooms, so if you have kids DO NOT come before 10:00 p.m.! Overall, I would not recommend this Inn despite the “charm” of a rustic experience.
