Stay elsewhere no matter the cost
By Renee, 3/2/08
Initially we liked that it was inexpensive and that breakfast was included. However they charged us an extra 200.00 on our credit card and the breakfast was so bad and greasy it was not fit for my dogs to eat. We ate out every day for all meals. They had a restaurant bar but we ordered from there and the food was like eating fast food at restaurant prices. The room smelled like carpet fresh and mold. The hot tub was out of order. The people at the desk were not helpful. The location was good but I heard from many people it was in a bad part of town. They did not have any vending machines; they were removed because because of extensive vandalism. Also, there were cackling birds at night to ensure you couldn't sleep. The fitness center- had only one piece of equipment that was scary to look at. Find somewhere else do not stay at this hotel.

Filthy Rooms
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/16/08
Although the service was great (they let me check out of my room ASAP) and the location was 2 miles from the airport, the rooms were horrendous. Whoever writes a positive review for this hotel is either on staff or did not have my room. The floor was so dirty I could see stains and burn marks in them. The curtain was blackened by dust, the bedsheets smelled old, electric sockets didn't work, and I had 11 Mpbs of wireless internet. After spending one night in that room, I checked out the next morning.

I hope the new owners have been renovating -- I'll let you know
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/30/07
I've stayed here annually since 1997, since I always like to spend a day or two acclimating before going up to Santa Fe & beyond. The free shuttle to/from the airport is a big plus, and the breakfast is outstanding. By July 2006, the place needed lots of repair and replacement - and I hope it's at least begun by the time I visit in a couple of weeks (Sept. 2007) The dining room had been shut down except for breakfast, so that the bar was the only place to secure a meal. It was so smoke-filled, I couldn't even stay for 2 minutes. I anticipate the dining room will still be closed, but I *h*o*p*e* the management, if not the City of Albuquerque, will have banned smoking in the bar.

They must have had a bad day
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/5/07
The breakfast is the best part of this hotel.. We stayed there when it was the university airport inn and found it to be a pleasant place. This time we got 2 rooms, not adjoining unfortunately and one had ripped curtains and the other one had air conditioning that didn't work. The pool aea was not clean and we had to ask for towels. There seemed to be no security because one group of extremely wild teens showed up to swim (some in clothes) and scared lots of people out of the pool. Also there was a guy skateboarding into the pool. It used to be a really nice place, but seems to have gone down hill. Won't stay there again. Also in a bad area of Alb.

A Nightmare
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/2/07
The Vagabond Inn was absolutely filthy and run down. The room I was in had a hole in the wall with bugs crawling in and out of it. The door did not lock. The carpet had stains all over and smelled of animal urine. One of the light bulbs was burned out. The bathroom was outdated and gross. I checked out that night and went to a different hotel and was very pleased with my decision.

ROOM NEEDED REPAIRS
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/29/07
The room we stayed in had burned out bulbs in two lamps, the hair dryer didn't work, the safety chain on the door was broken and the carpet looked dirty. When I mentioned these things to the front desk they did bring up another hair dryer fairly quickly but the light bulbs were not replaced and the solution to the broken safety chain was to take it off completely. The room was supplied with only one bar of soap and after making coffee the first morning the coffee supplies were not replenished. On the bright side, the breakfast was decent and the location was convenient for my purposes. With better maintenance and housekeeping it would have been a good deal.

A great place to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/13/07
We showed a day early--our reservation was for the following night. We did have to wait to check-in because it was too early in the day, but it was worth the wait! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable; everything worked great: internet, plenty of hot water, balcony was great; all areas were very clean, and very pleasant; pool and hot tub was clean. Breakfast was great, much better than we expected, except sodas were not included and the cost was alittle high. The location was good, easy access to the highway, not too many places to eat close by, but the clerk recommended a great place that we really enjoyed! We would stay there again without hesitation.

Good for functions at UNM
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/06
A full, hot breakfast is served in a nice dining room. The hotel is close to UNM. We always stay here when we are on school trips.

Nice location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/23/06
One night, people upstair made a lot of noisy by walking until 1am. The insulation is not good enough. The breakfast is good but almost same everyday for 5 days we stayed.
