Perfect for our anniversary \"getaway\"!
By ,
We have just arrived home from our 3.5 day stay at La Posada, and we're so relaxed we'll be smiling for days! The staff made us feel quite pampered, and the grounds and rooms couldn't be lovelier, with a very rustic, historic beauty you can only get in the southwest. This is a very quiet place, with nearly private courtyards, beautiful small kiva fireplaces in the rooms, and the most wonderful spa services! We took advantage of the 3-day package which included one-hour massages, followed by a visit to the steam-rooms, and my massage was so beneficial, I had a 2nd one the next day. WONDERFUL, knowledgeable masseuse who knew just what to do for me, to relieve the stress and discomfort which cancer-treatments and multiple surgeries left me with, the past 11 months. The fitness facility and hot-tub are also wonderful! The location is perfect too! About one block east of St. Francis Cathedral, around the corner from the Santa Fe Plaza, where shopping, museums, restaurants, galleries, and historical churches await discovery! I also checked out all I could on "Julia Staab" the lovely, friendly "spirit" still lingering at her 1880's mansion (currently the La Posada Resort), and the Concierge was kind enough to allow me to visit Julia's room and take photos. A truly fascinating story! If you're looking for a great place to dine, we chose to stay right there on the grounds for our special 31st anniversary dinner, and we ate at "Fuego" -- the La Posada restaurant, just past the main lobby. We were treated like royalty, and the food was absolutely exquisite in every way! (The chef even prepared a "Happy Anniversary" chocolate dessert plate for us!) We loved EVERYTHING about our stay, and will definitely stay there again in the future ... and will recommend it to everyone we know. It was well worth our money. What a beautiful, lasting memory this anniversary will be for us, thanks to La Posada!

Could it Get any Better?
By ,
In reading some of the other reviews, I'm completely baffled. We spent 4 days here over Thanksgiving weekend, enjoying attentive service, excellent massages, good food, and relaxing in front of our beautiful wood burning fireplace. If you're looking for the Four Seasons in New York, this ain't it--La Posada is rustic, but comfortable, friendly, but not invasive, and provides top-notch service in a Western way--always there when you need them, but not aloof or bothersome. The property is beautiful, particularly with the gentle snow falling, and is quite handy to the center of Santa Fe. This is a place for those who want a relaxing, unpretentious vacation. I've traveled all over the world, and this is one of my favorites.

Great time at La Posada De Santa Fe
By ,
We had such a great time at this hotel. It isn't really all that fancy but more like home if you are on an week long visit. It has a nice sitting room so you can read the paper in the morning without distrubing someones sleep. Is walking distance to all the art galleries and shops and have a very nice breakfast in the morning. I really enjoyed my visit. They even had umbrellas ready for you in case of a shower.

VERY Pricey, Mediocre Service
By ,
I just visited this spa with two other friends. I had a facial (Barbara gave a good facial...not the best I've ever had, but she was very friendly and attentive.) The charge for a 50 minute facial was $135 BEFORE TAX AND MANDATORY 19% gratuity. BY FAR, the most expensive spa in Santa Fe. 80 minute massage, $200 BEFORE TAX AND GRATUITY. Changing room very small, no place to sit and sip tea, etc. in the spa, that I could see. Small dressing area to be used after showering (only two showers, by the way.) Also, only ONE HAIRDRYER!!! What's that all about? It's my understanding that the ownership of the spa has recently changed from local onsite ownership, to "remote" owners. The spa is located in a beautiful hotel, La Posada, which is a "Leading Hotels of the World" member, but you'd never know it by experiencing the spa....OTHER than the HIGH PRICES. I would say, there are MANY other spas in Santa Fe to experience that receive much higher accolades than this place, AND ARE as much as 40% less expensive.

Best place for a wedding.
By ,
My daughter married on the terrace "La Terraza" overlooking the Cathedral. It was beautiful. It could not been better. The service, food, rooms were the best. Family from all over the country thought that it was the best wedding they had been to. We all stayed in the area by the terrace, rooms were large, beds luxurious. I would highly recomment the La Plazuela Restuarant as well. It is like nothing else in the country.

Shabby Rustic
By ,
Though I found the main building quite nice, but the room we had was just plain shabby. There was paint chipping, the carpet and bed spread were dirty, and the bed pillows were all too flat. The gas fireplace was less than romantic. We had to encourage one of the several bellmen to bring our bags to the room. The place has the potential for being quite nice, however a decorator with some feel for details is desperately needed to come in and overhaul the rooms.

FANTASTIC does not describe ~
By ,
This was our first visit to La Posada, but not to Santa Fe. We've stayed in several other high end hotels, but have never had such a wonderful experience. The staff is so friendly and makes every effort to assist with every need. The rooms are large and spacious and provide good working arrangement for business travelers and it is within walking distance to the New Mexico Commission. The food is absolutely the BEST we've experienced in any hotel in Santa Fe. Being it was winter, we could only imagine how beautiful the grounds would be in spring/summer and are looking forward to our return during that time. Would highly recommend to romantics as well as the business traveler and groups.

An Outstanding Christmas at La Posada
By ,
La Posada is an exquisite and tastefully designed resort. It is designed in the cultural "adobe architectural" style...with well manicured grounds and landscape. The staffing is very polite, professional and well-trained in meeting the needs of their clients. I spent seven days there in December '07 and felt like a very well-treated guest in every possible way. The staff is extremely accomodating and the restaurant and spa are grand in every way. I can't imagine staying any other place else on a return trip to Santa Fe.....La Posada is a great experience and a well-deserved treat, to a seasoned traveler that enjoys the BEST. Great location, wonderful valet service and the concierge desk is fabulous. La Posada is not inexpensive, however it is worth every dollar spent and the resort fee is quite fair; for the services provided. Will return again very soon!!!!!!

Just OK....
By ,
The enclosed resort grounds are certainly attractive and relaxing. The concierge (Johnny) was great and was very helpful! Most of the staff, though, are aloof and difficult to warm up to. The spa services in particular were average at best. My friend and I reserved appointments for 50 min. deep tissue massages. My friend reported that his therapist seemed to be working hard, though the result was mediocre. My therapist started out well, but did not complete the massage in time. At $135 per massage, that's poor value and customer service. The gym and pool are small, but most hotels/resorts offer tiny workout spaces. There is a nice restuarant on the premises (Fuego) and the food was tasty but pricey. The resort is located nearby the plaza and Canyon Road. One thing we were not prepared for was the backpackers asking for money. On our first night there, we were harassed by a carload of teenagers who looked like they wanted to beat us up - for no reason at all! Best advice: avoid the plaza at night. It's creepy and all the shops are closed anyway. There are plenty of nice resturants located on Marcy Street and streets surrounding the plaza.

Will definitely be back!
By ,
We were a bit concerned by the poor ratings on this site but our experience could hardly have been better! The service was wonderful, everyone was helpful and friendly: front desk, housekeeping, concierge. We stayed for 5 days so had occasion to speak with many different hotel staff. The grounds were quite lovely and the area very quiet. Our room was very nice - felt very "New Mexico" and was clean and comfortable. My only complaint being that the bathroom lighting was not really adequate. The bar and both restaurants are very nice - very expensive but not unusually so for Santa Fe. Really - our only complaint was the additional $15.00 "resort fee" (these costs should be absorbed in the nightly rate)and the unfortunate fact that the pool was out of use for our entire stay.... Will definitely stay there again!
