Great resort.
By JB, 01/14/10
Glad I didn't rely on alot of the comments left heretofore. Very Very nice place. All stone, very modern, including furniture, cooper everywhere, fireplaces etc, great buffet, friendly accomidating. Really don't have a clue as to alot set forth below, yeah theres a casino and theres smoking in casino, didn't bother me a bit. Beautiful room overlooking lake although most all seem nice. Excellent pool and spa, clean, towels, robes and again all stone. sauna, steam shower. The place is a killer. 4 story atrium looking at lake and sierra blanca mountain. I think alot of people below need to get their ass over to travel lodge and be done with it. Didn't do well at the casino, but such is life. Skiing great, have to checkout cloudcroft for excellent cruising and relaxation, beautiful and extreme value. BYOB. Drive from resort to cloudcroft via junction 244?? or something like that, 30 miles of georgeous scenery right through reservation. Resort comparable or as nice as; Hyatt Hill Country Hyatt Beaver Creek Nicer than Harrahs Lake Tahoe or Hyatt Incline Village Hope this helps.

Stay Away!!!
By Jesus, 05/26/09
After several attempts to like the hotel, we've given up and will not be returning. We'd rather spend our time and money at another hotel, cabin or other. Why? Let me list the reasons: Check-In Time 03:00 p.m.; we got our room at 05:15 p.m. Fire Alarm - 03:10 a.m., can't be help, but then, 03:30 a.m. - generator comes on - too loud, can't sleep, like having a turbine next to your headboard. Stay away from rooms on the north end, 297,299 and anything below or above. Unfriendly Service at all locations. Frowns not smiles. Changed rooms, supposedly, wouldn't get our rooms till 03:00 p.m., checked on rooms, not ready, when "don't know" - decided to check on and return to El Paso, TX. We won't be back, we're not gamblers - just wanted some nice accommodations for our guests to rest and enjoy. Had a better time in El Paso, plus we slept in our own beds. Recommendation - Stay away - not worth the money, service is bad and unfriendly. If you don't like the work, get another job.

Great Place Will Return
By Harold or Lisa B, 02/27/09
I have no idea why anyone would complain about this resort. My sister and I and our husbands stayed here during the off season in February 2009 and we all agreed that this is a great resort. The front desk staff was excellent; our rooms were clean and smoke free. All the staff I came in contact with was nothing but professional and friendly. Will we return…? Absolutely Yes!!!

No 5 Star - Rather 1 Star
By Mickey, 01/09/09
Would I go back? No, run for the hills. The scenery is magnificant to wake up to if you have a view of the mountains rather than the side of a building. The smokey hallways, casino and hotel rooms are horrible. The front desk personnel are rude and unfriendly to be a resort. The rooms are not what you pay for compared to what you are getting. The perks for this trip was the food, the view in the lobby and the shuttle driver taking us to the airport. Will we return? Don't even ask.

Great Time!!!
By mini, 01/03/09
My husband and I stayed for about four days and it was great. The front desk was very nice and helpful. We also ordered room service...twice and they delivered when they said they would. Bartenders and Service staff were also very professional. As for the smoke it is a smoking casino and what else do you expect. I am a non-smoker but if I minded the smoke I would move easy as that. Actually I'm booking a few more nights

Racial prejudice
By Edge, 12/04/08
very rude people, everyone seemed to treat us as if we were a burden, and also could not answer simple questions we had about the place.Insted of employing as many native americans they can get. I feel they need to hire employees who know how to do their jobs correctly !!

Probably would go back with extra sweaters
By samuel, 10/19/08
Well when you make reservations be sure to ask for a room with a view of the lake or you will end up with a view of the parking lot.another thing this place needs to regulate there tempature better its either to hot or to cold.the casino, bar and night club are freezing cold,my wife and i sat in the night club ordered a drink and then left because its was to cold to enjoy yourself.the local restaraunts are serve very good food, but still tempature was freaking cold.the staff was kind of friendly.one female cocktail waitress in club 49 acted like we were'nt there i actually had whistle at the waitress to get her attention(then my wife got mad for whistlin).second time i had to ask a bus boy to tell my waitress we needed another drink(plus i was tipping).well it was fun and i ended up with a head cold from it but is was fun.-BE SURE TO TAKE LOTS OF SWEATERS

Never ever again!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/29/08
Terrible service at every encounter. We were treated more like annoyances rather than guests. We had multiple problems with reservations despite making it 3 months in advance. We were told at check in that we would be given a king room instead of the 2 queens we reserved. They said we could have a rollaway for my son and daughter to share. My son is 6' 4" and daughter is 13 years old.We fianlly got the queens we were promised. The staff seems very indifferent.'They even called me during an outing to demand that we remove our things from the room saying that our reservation was for only 1 night. I rushed back from our outing knowing that I would have to show the written confirmation for them to believe me. Without the confirmation that I requested they fax me ( they don't have an aoutomated e-mail like most hotels) I wouldn't have gotten the room at 10pm and they would have overcharged me. We tried the riding stable at the advertised time only to hunt for someone for 20 minutes who told us they were closed (on a Saturday). My husband's & son's T-time was pushed back more than 1 1/2 hours due to a movie crew from the "Transformers" who were given the course ahead of everyone else. We used the gym as there are strick instructions to not walk around the private reservation. There is only a very short walking path in front of the building. The gym was not clean but the equipment was o.k., not crowded at all. My daughter enjoyed the hot tub. There is no spa on the property, so if you want a massage or manicure you have to drive into Ruidoso. We are still trying to resolve to major overbilling question. We were overcharged almost $800 ( for a 2 day stay) on our card despite going to the front desk to check out and review the mistakes on the bill. I called at least 8 times and had to leave messages, still no resolution. The smoke is eveywhere! The smoke pours out from the casino into the common areas, no escaping it. I was gagging just walking through the lobby. We just had to laugh at all the mistakes and problems, we just began to expect them. There was never an apology for any of the problems, just a who cares attitude. We love Ruidoso and will definately return for the beauty of the mountains, but will never go to Inn of the Mountain Gags again.
