Better than its reputation
By CharlesP, 10/31/11
We found all of the hotel staff to be friendly and helpful. The room was large and clean, and exactly the type we requested (There are many room sizes and styles to choose from). The food at Wendell's was wonderful and worth the price. Meals at the Aztec Tee were very good, much better than expected. The dealers and other staff in the casino were friendly, talkative, and helpful. Our experience in the casino was remarkably similar to our experiences in Las Vegas. The casino is a little smoky. Our room was cleaned later in the afternoons, but this did not present any problem for us. In short, we had heard rumors about the problems mentioned in many other reviews. It appears to us that most of these problems have been corrected. Our expectations were consistently exceeded. We would be delighted to return to Inn of the Mountain Gods, and recommed it highly as an escape from the city and/or the desert heat.

Everything you need
We have stayed at the Inn several times over the past 20 years. You have it all in one place. The view of the lake and mountains is outstanding. Thjere are sitting areas through out the resort so you can sit out side or inside and stare at the view. The rooms are well appointed and the matress was very comfortable. The main reason people go is to gamble but be prepared for a very smoke filled casino. My favorite restaurant is the gathering of the nations buffet where you will eat all you want and will not be able to stop because it is so good. The enchiladas were as good as any I've eaten anywhere in New Mexico and Texas. The tortilla chips were thin and crispy and the salsa was delicious. Menudo was outstanding. It is a perfect place to stay.

honeymoon very nice
By Jessica, 1/13/11
it was nice, very nice. i ddnt like the restraunt it tasted bland and was runny, especially for it being expensive, and the drinks were gross. the buffet was okay. the casino is nice, good drinks. the room was small and all we could see was the roof, the room service was like frozen food warmed up. but when you go on the nature hike its breath taking. the air is fresh, mountains everywhere and the people were friendly. i would go back. oh and the pool, spa is amazing. :))

Read All Reviews First!
By nothing here, 10/7/10
I live in a city close by and was thinking of a weekend getaway. But after reading these reviews I tend to agree with the negative postings here. The local reservation in which the employees are from are just naturally that way in the first place. Its just something you have to deal with, poor attitudes. Taking all these other reviews into consideration, I wont be spending my money there and that's a fact. Instead I'll look int a cabin rental from another business.

smokey casino
By K, 9/12/10
This casino is very nice and for the life of me I can't see why the owners don't have a smoke free area. We didn't know you could not carry a beer on the gambling floor and a policeman politely told us we would have to stand behind the rope separating the bar from the casino. What!!! Drinking a beer on the gambling floor doesn't harm anyone else, but smoking, stinking, breathing in second hand smoke is okay??? Come on people--put in good ventilation and keep the smokers over on one side together. I won't go back for this reason. I have been in smokey places and this was the worst.

HONEY MOON AND LOVED IT!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/10/10
My husband and I went there for our honey moon two years ago and continue to go back every chance we get. We've had our best romantic moments there. We both love the balcony with a great view to the late. I recommend Inn of the Mountain Gods to everyone who wants to spend a romantic time with their loved one. The place is wonderful, great service and the buffett is delicious. We are going this weekend for another romatic get away.

Great resort.
By JB, 1/14/10
Glad I didn't rely on alot of the comments left heretofore. Very Very nice place. All stone, very modern, including furniture, cooper everywhere, fireplaces etc, great buffet, friendly accomidating. Really don't have a clue as to alot set forth below, yeah theres a casino and theres smoking in casino, didn't bother me a bit. Beautiful room overlooking lake although most all seem nice. Excellent pool and spa, clean, towels, robes and again all stone. sauna, steam shower. The place is a killer. 4 story atrium looking at lake and sierra blanca mountain. I think alot of people below need to get their ass over to travel lodge and be done with it. Didn't do well at the casino, but such is life. Skiing great, have to checkout cloudcroft for excellent cruising and relaxation, beautiful and extreme value. BYOB. Drive from resort to cloudcroft via junction 244?? or something like that, 30 miles of georgeous scenery right through reservation. Resort comparable or as nice as; Hyatt Hill Country Hyatt Beaver Creek Nicer than Harrahs Lake Tahoe or Hyatt Incline Village Hope this helps.
