If you have hair or need a shower.....
By lynda, 09/29/09
The hotel was not too bad (bring Lysol) BUT if you have ANY hair on your head or just want a good shower,.. Don't stay here! We stayed from 9/25-9/27/09 and there was NO water pressure! I had to use a pitcher from the cabinet to rinse my hair! Maybe the pressure was better in other rooms that cost more! Other reviews about the front desk personnel were true..not much of a personality and not very friendly. We asked to see the room before we paid and it was like we were bothering the front desk associate!!

DON"T stay here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/08/09
Overpriced for what they provide!!! The room and a horrible smell and when the kids went to get in bed they were "grossed out" by the smell in the bed. WHen KIDS complain it is bad. Kids would not sleep in bed and we left with no refund. THe room was only used to take a shower. The only nice thing about this place was the POOL!

Maids steal, Frontdesk Rude, and Rooms Filthy
By WWLover, 08/25/09
Stayed 1st week of august. caught maid in my drawers then discovered bras missing. front desk was notified immediately and did nothing. Police said reports were common from this hotel. maid still works there. Rooms smell and the furniture, bed-spreads and bathrooms are all dated , falling apart and stinky. we paid for a long weekend stay but left early morning on Sat after 1 night. never got a refund. STAY AWAY OR YOU WILL BE SORRY!

Disgusting
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/27/09
This place was a very expensive dump. It was filthy dirty, the feet on the little kids were black from the filth. One of our rooms smelled like urine. They were never cleaned by the staff and we had to ask repeatedly for towels and toilet paper. Once we returned home, we discovered that we left a bag with the DS in it. Called and was told they had the bag but not the DS. The staff could have cared less and even accused me of making it up. I would not recommend this place to anyone ever.

TERRIBLE PLACE TO STAY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/23/09
THE POOL IS THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THIS PLACE. FIRST MY ROOM STATED THAT IT HAD A STOVE AND AN APARTMENT SIZE REFRIGERATOR AND IT DIDNT. THE ROOM HAD A MUSTY AND WET ODOR. NO TISSUES, NO IRON. IT IS TIME THEY UPDATE THIS HOTEL. THE PEOPLE WORKING THE FRONT DESK WERE NOT THE MOST FRIENDLY EITHER. LOOK FOR ANOTHER PLACE TO STAY THIS ONE IS NOT WORTH IT

take the reviews with a grain of salt
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/11/09
This was a standard American beachfront hotel not a 4 star joint but not like a lot of theses other reviews either . We stayed in 6 rooms ( as a group of 12) 2 rooms were a bit musty (oceanfront rooms) but that was cured with a dryer sheet in the a/c intake and all the rest was standard fare if you want luxury this isn't it but if you are looking for a good hotel with clean rooms and beds then go 4 it after reading a lot of the reviews we were worried but it was definitely comfortable and had a nice pool/hot tub and a little area to BBQ w the family I guees you get what you bring with you will be back (6/1-6/6/09

We can't wait to go back.
By Anne, 04/15/09
We have been going here for at least the last 9 years. We have tried other places but none compare with Royal Hawaiian. It has been our special place every summer. Sometimes our daughter and her family join us. They also love coming here. Thanks Royal Hawaiian

DO NOT STAY HERE!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/10/08
This hotel is anything but "Royal". I along with another reviewer wore socks or shoes the entire stay - the carpet and floors are TERRIBLE. The smell is awful. And the bathroom well you feel like you need a shower after you use the toilet. I have to wear flip-flops into the shower because the tub is that bad - worst than any dorm shower I have ever seen!! The owner needs to put money into updating this hotel - it could have potential - instead he drives a Mercedes. I did not like the owner at all or any of the rest of the staff they all seem very arrogant and I am not sure why - they have nothing to be arrogant about, this place is just plan GROSS!! The pool is about the only thing that is somewhat nice here.

Its a place to sleep...
By julanne, 05/27/08
My husband and I just stayed for Memorial Day weekend..we got a package deal which included breakfast at a great rate...The room was average for your typical NJ shore motel...The pool was nice and the location was great...Now my complaints- the room smelled and was next to the elevator shaft (great noise!)...couldn't let the light in the room without someone looking in (no privacy), the staff was not friendly at all..there was a man at the front desk and he just seemed like he didn't want to be bothered... I have no incentive to stay here again...will probably go back to Port Royal which is about 4 hotels down the road...

Can't understand...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/25/08
I've been reading all the reviews and can't understand why so many are negative. My family and I have been stying at this hotel for over five years, in fact, we usually call for reservations within the first couple weeks in January. Each visit the staff gives us our favorite room on the forth floor. I can understand some of what people are saying, I mean, yes, the rooms do have a musty smell to them. I've been going to wildwood every year since I was six, not just once but two, sometimes three times a year and have stayed in almost every place in the crest (plus one in the heart of Wildwood and a few in North Wildwood)..the thing is, these places are all older so of course they're all going to be musty. It's just like someone else had posted, you're staying in Wildwood, NJ...Others have mentioned the staff seems a bit on the colder side. I personally think that's just the way they are. They've always been very sweet to my parents but seem a little more distant towards myself. I think they start to warm up once they get to know you but like I said, that's only my opinion. I've stayed in this place for a long time and love it. It's near the beach, in the Crest, has a funky look to it, and is a Doo Wop motel (for those who don't know, that's a preserved motel from the 50's or 60's). If I have anything to complain about it's that little kids are allowed in the hot tub. Each time I try to go in to relax with a good book, it gets swarmed with kids who splash, and kick, and don't bother to look where they're going. Personally, I feel they shouldn't allow younger children in the hot tub, besides, they usually spend long periods of time in it which can't be healthy. If anything, that's what the staff should work on. Aside from that, I've never experienced any of the other things that people have complained about. Seeing all the mixed reviews, I'd say the best thing to do would be to try it out yourself.
