Howard Johnson Hotel Toms River, Toms River

The employees were very friendly and helpful; however, it did not make up for the show box size room at the high price we had. I will not be recommending Howard Johnson Hotels to friends and associates. After our first morning of trying out the “Continental Breakfast” we didn’t go back. 4 breakfast cereal packages, a couple pieces of fruit and there were a few packaged Danish with coffee, milk and 2 juices do not make a breakfast. Maybe I was spoiled because 2 nights before I stayed in a hotel in the Washington DC area. I paid $50 dollars per night less for a suite with a complimentary hot breakfast. The bed was comfortable and I didn’t hear my neighbors so I slept well. The bathroom was clean; I only had to catch and remove one cricket. The water pressure in the shower was weak; however, it was functional. Since we were on the first floor it did make it convenient for unloading and loading our vehicle. My AARP membership got me a $36 discount on the week night and if I had received the same consideration for Friday and Saturday nights, I probably wouldn’t be writing this review. I’m one that does not like to make absolute statements, like “I will never stay in a Howard Johnson Hotel again, but with all the choices around it is very unlikely that they will see me again.

The furniture was old and look beat the room needs to be up dated. The room was clean but even the bathroom was so worn lookig that it appeared to be dirty.
