DON'T STAY HERE!!!
By Martha Simpson, 10/30/08
I read the reviews before making my reservation here. I figured some of the people who gave bad reviews were probably just a little too picky. I WAS WRONG!!! Because of the price, I didn't expect an immaculate place and I new the motel was old but this place is so disgusting...not even worth the budget price paid. I didn't mind the old appliances even though the refrigerator wouldn't close...but the filthy walls, floors, light fixtures, bathroom was too much to bear. There was a bug jumping around the room I had to kill..then when I turned the comforter down, I almost gagged. It looked like someone vomited on the floor between the bed and the nightstand and it was never cleaned up..it was all dried up and gross. Every time I touched something in the room I ran to the bathroom to wash my hands. By far the worst motel I've ever stayed at. My son was walking on the strip and needed a ride home...the battery on his cell phone died so he went to a pay phone and called the motel to try to get in touch with me...it was only 10 p.m. and nobody answered the phone....he said it rang and rang. DON'T SAY HERE!!!

I stayed at the somerset in may and it was fine for me ,just the tv had bad reception .THe other party staying in another room found two bugs in the kitchen. I know he did not say anything but i would go there again knowing that the problem was taken care of , so we will inform the hotel of the roaches, as for the money and location i would go back if the problem is fixed ,

Comfortable and Convenient
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/21/06
This is an older property, so don't expect anything glitzy. All in all, I had a very good experience here. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was quite comfortable as a place to lay my head at night. Located about halfway between the strip and the convention center, it was a reasonable walk to several nearby hotels/casinos. By virtue of its age and general wear, this motel does not appear to be the cleanest. However, there were no surprises or gross-outs. The room had a handy little kitchenette. Iron/ironing board are available, but you have to get them from the front desk. It was very quiet at night -- none of the noise problems I read about in reviews of some of Vegas's other less expensive motels. I would definitely stay here again!

Not far form the strip & It was just fine, not fancy but clean. The quiet escape from the strip was nice.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/20/06
You can walk to the strip no problem.I took a cab from the Stardust back to the motel one night beacuse I was alone and you never know. The cab driver was a jerk about the short fair. He did not say anything but you could tell, he drove like a nut on the short trip back. That should give you a good idea of how close it is. The rooms are out dated with the look but they are clean. They have a small laundry room that was nice.I like the little kitchens its nice for beer or if you want to cook in one night to save money or just to have a home feel for dinner away from the strip one night. The Somerset is not fancy but cheap and cozy.

Best LV Motel I've Stayed At
By Craig, 2/13/06
This place was great right from the start! The front desk clerk was friendly and knowledgable. The price was outstanding. The rooms aren't 3 miles from the parking lot, like all the huge resort casinos. The rooms were clean. Shower was great. It was located right off the strip near the Stardust. Its has an awesome sign out front. The only complaint would be that the carpet was getting old. Other than that, I am definately going back.

We go every year!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/16/06
My 3 girlfriends and I stay at the Somerset house. It's not beautiful room decor, it's decent and clean. They keep it up. We like the fact that it is only 3 floors, easy to get to the pool - no fighting to get a chair. The beds are comfy and very clean. There are alot of nearby amenities, like Walgreens for munchies, Dennys restaurant for breakfast, McDonalds. Walk up a block to catch the trolley at the Stardust every 15 minutes. For the $$ it's a great place to stay. We like the 2nd floor non-smoking rooms.

Great Location, Great Value!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/05
I Have stayed at the Somerset House, off and on for years! While not upscale, the value cant be beat! I'd rather save the $100.00 or so dollars, for a great meal and a show! The staff is always 1st rate, the beds are clean and the water is hot and if you are wondering whether you need a reservation, you had better get one because the facility is always full!

Beauty in the eyes of...............
By jon, 12/9/05
I always find it amusing that people stay in cheap places and complain that they aren't as nice as the Paris! Remodeling is expensive and it is paid for by higher prices. The Somerset is convenient......5 minutes to the strip and Walgren's on these aging legs...and 10 minutes to the LV Convention Center. They have cheap rooms especially when booked direct and if you are there at least 7 days, you get an even cheaper rate. I appreciate having a fridge which all rooms have; 80 of the 100+ rooms have kitchenettes. The hallways are depressing, the drapes old, furniture is dated and the kitchen appliances are old and I don't care. I have been in 4 different rooms. All had big closets, clean kitchens, bathrooms and beds. The beds have been the most comfortable that I have been in in LV and the place was the quietest place I have stayed in in my 12 trips. Doors are locked at about 5, and you get buzzed in or use your key. The friendly staff downstairs, maintenance, and housekeeping make the place homey. I sleep 6 hours, shave, shower, and leave. I need a clean bed, bathroom and kitchen and QUIET. The Somersett delivers with that, a great price, and location. If you want great luxury, this is not for you; if you appreciate a good deal, you can live with it. I can afford much better;but I like it there! Jim
