Super 8 Meadow Wood Courtyard, Reno

I booked two identical rooms and both rooms were confirmed at the same price. When I arrived a higher price was demanded for one of the rooms. It was late and I had no choice but to pay the higher price. Super 8 motels are often run down old buildings. Sometimes the rooms are nice other times they are dumps. So, you gamble when you reserve a room at super 8. This time I lost. The room was a dump and I was overcharged. Went to Days Inn in Reno on my return trip. Much better room than Super 8 at a lower price.

Although an older motel, we had a very nice experience with this motel. The room was spacious, clean and had all the amenities one would reasonable expect. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. This motel is centrally located to the Reno downtown and to the nearby airport. We arrived without reservations and yet the rate was more than reasonable.

Room was very outdated and in desperate need of remodeling. The shower (if that's what you'd call it) was a mere trickle. Had to ask front desk staff for towels. Toilet flushed when it felt like flushing. There weren't but 4 or 5 channels on the "cable" tv. I mustn't forget, if you need or prefer a ground floor room, prepare to pay a 20.00 additional fee. Because we visit Reno frequently, we have stayed in better quality hotels. Best advise... take the extra time to shop around. You won't be disappointed if you do!

The Meadow Wood Courtyard is the cleanest and best managed Super 8 motel that I have ever seen. The maids clean everything inside and out. The beds are comfortable and everything works. Refrigerators are provided along with internet access. The internet access is free but requires a cable box available for check out at the front desk. The pool is huge and well maintained. The Mall is just across the street and Wild Oats is next door. The breakfast is very nice with plenty of seating. As author of Top Gun Management, I know a little about management. I am impressed.

The location is excellent. Walking distance to the convention center with a Wild Oats Market next door. Plenty of nearby restaurants. Rooms are standard Super 8, adequate with refrig and microwave. Carpet needs to be cleaned. Every room has a plate glass wall in front that does not open. Curtains must be closed for privacy and to keep out the glare & heat of the sun. So what's the point of the glass? No other windows. Needs better ventilation. Hot water was hot sometimes and other times just barely warm. Take your shower during "off-peak" hours!

They say that they are pet friendly, what they forget to tell you is that you have a $50.00 deposit for each pet, and $10.00 a night additional fee for each one, upon checkin you find also that they have a size limit on the pets. They do not have electricial connections readily available for medicial equipment usage. The beds were hard, not enough pillows.

The air conditioning does not work in most rooms on the second floor. Very uncomfortable. The front of the motel loks great but as you find yourself going to your rooms, the place looks like its going to fall apart.
