Hotel Only
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/2/11
Let me start with we have not been to a Tahoe casino/hotel for quiet some time. We drove 4 hrs to get there. Went through Stateline area up to check out Cal Neva at North Shore. Drove through, did not stop, only 3 cars in parking lot, looked dead. Drove back to South Shore and parked at Harrah's. Went in and ate and decided to walk through and go over to Harvey's. So Havey's was the third place we checked out. Checked for room (this was a Monday) and found room would cost $99 but settled for King for $71+ with AAA discount. I thought this was high for a Monday and the way economy is. No discount breakfast coupons or any perks. With the Indian Casinos taking a bite out of the business would have thought different. We went to room. First glance looked ok. but a little dated. Then noticed an old Tube TV on a dresser, no frig, no coffee maker (but you can order 6 cups for $8), no internet (can get for $10 for 24 hrs). Then we opened the curtains so the sun shined in. Wow...the bed skirt had several creamy looking stains on it. The runner across the foot of the bed also had several creamy looking stains on it also. We did not even pull back the sheets. We were completely turned off and disgusted at this point. Called the front desk and informed them of our dissatisfaction and requested someone to come up immediately. Waited, no one showed, we left and went down. Of course, apologies were given, offered new room (no offer for upgrade or discount). We chose not to accept. Needless to say, completely turned off from returning. We drove back home (4 hrs) without even spending a Quarter in their slots or playing a hand at the 21 Table.

An old hotel that shows its age
By Michael, 1/25/10
I like the proximity to Heavenly but the proximity to the lake is not as convenient. This Hotel is rather old and the rooms really show it. Many have a residualy smell of cigarette smoke from the olden days. There is carpet in part of the bathroom which is rather odd. Also the tv in the bathroom is a crummy really old black and white TV. You can still have a great time in and around Tahoe, so if you plan to spend little time in your room, then you will be fine. In desperate need of major renovations in the Casino and hotel rooms.

Charged Twice for one stay
By DL, 8/1/08
My stay there was mediocre at best. Worst part of the hotel was I was charged twice for one stay and Im still waiting for their accounts department to credit me back and it's been over a week since my stay. I had to resort to contacting my credit card company to block payment. Pay attention to any promotions you sign up for since reservation staff did not honor their promotional gift card until I asked them when I would receive it. Go to Vegas.

Loved It
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/18/08
I coordinated a conference at Harveys and absolutely loved the place. We had about 250 attendees and the Harveys staff were super to work with. The rooms are very nice and most have a great view. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to book a conference! I would also recommend it if you are just going there for vacation. In planning for the conference I was there 3 different times and each time was very pleasant. I do wish their were coffee makers in the room...but if you ask for one, they will bring one right up to you. I highly recommend this hotel and love the staff and service!

I will come again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/6/07
The location is one of the most beautiful ones that I have seen in a long time, and I have traveled the world. The room service staff were extremely nice and very prompt. The ladies that cleaned our rooms were also great. I agree that a coffee maker should be in the rooms, the "Starbucks" staff were very slow and unfriendly. The coffee was extremely old and tasted burnt. STARBUCKS IS A BLACKEYE TO HARRAH'S/HARVEY'S. I, just like everyone, felt that the slots were to tight. I do not expect to always win, but I never could find a machine that would let me play any lenght of time without dumping in more and more money. Hope the next time I can at least win some to be able to enjoy playing longer. I did have one complaint: I DO NOT LIKE TO GAMBLE WITH CHILDREN ALLOWED TO ROAM AROUND IN THE CASINO. THIS IS THE VERY REASON THAT I DO NOT GO TO LAS VEGAS !!!!!!! I personally do not think that children should be taken to a casino by the parents, this is a adult enviroment and to often, the parents are not watching the kids in the restrauants and around the facilities. If you do get to visit Harrah's/Harvey's, you will be pleasantly pleased, I was.

Okay Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/15/07
The room is nice and clean and the bathroom was a nice size. The staff doing the check in/check out was not have a professional or nice attitude. I did not like the cigarette smell in the lobby, but that is expected since there is a casino right upstairs. Too bad there is no smoke-free casinos. The other bad thing is that they charge $10 to use the fitness center. I feel that should be included if we are paying like almost $200 per night. I heard Holiday Inn has free breakfast.

Not luxury accommodation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/10/06
Good value for being able to stay near the casinos, gondola and shopping, but room was pretty basic. No coffee maker, no hairdryer, pillows smelled like smoke (in a non-smoking room). Restaurants were almost imopossible to find through the Casino and also pretty basic. Room service quality was very good, very fast and the staff was very friendly each time. Pool was pretty much set in a bare, exposed cement deck with no shade or umbrellas. Everything at Harrahs across the street seemed nicer - buffet, kids' arcade, casino, atmosphere, etc. Harvey's is more basic - OK place to crash in the evening, but gets depressing if you spend too much time in the room. Not a good place for kids, almost nothing to do except for the arcade.
