Worst Ever
By NRA Member, 09/02/09
I don't know how this place stays in business. My work requires me to spend a lot of times in hotels around the area and I can tell you the staff of this hotel is the worst I have ever encountered. This hotel went through a "renovation" in the last couple of years, yet it appears to be falling apart already and looks more like some cheap motor lodge you'd find along most any highway. I have talked to other businesses that either still use the hotel, most no longer do and they have said the same thing to me. I would avoid this place like the swine flu and go elsewhere. Whether you're looking for a room to stay for the night or a place to hold an event or meeting, there are far better places in St. Louis than this. This place is an embarrassment to the hotel industry.

" Run...don't walk away from this place

THIS is the Worst hotel. DON'T stay here. Guess who was on vacation? Housekeeping, room service, and hotel staff. Recession has hit these folks. Rooms were not made up on 2 nights yet they charge $149 per night.

Excellent Stay!!!

From the moment we checked into this hotel the staff was friendly and helpful. I was traveling with my family and requested some special accommodations for my autistic son - they were so helpful and nice. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, especially if you have a special needs child.

Will not return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/27/06
Interesting experience - long, dark hallway that did not have air conditioning (a necessity in July), poor directions to get to room, had to ask 2 desk clerks and 3 maids before I found the room - got a map on the last day, room was not always made up, did not always get clean towels, weren't allowed a late check out despite that the hotel was not filled. The room was really small barely fir two beds and a couple of straight chairs. The hotel did not offer any incentives/discounts or anything when complaints were made (nicely) or upon check-out. Several other members of our group had similiar problems. No relief there either. Poor reflection on the chain in my opinion

Pathetic
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/17/06
I stayed here in December of 2005 with my 3 year old daughter. I arrived late, carrying a carseat, and pulling 2 suitcases. The elevators are confusing, one set goes to one area and another set goes to another tower. No one bothered to tell me that. No one offered to assist me to my room, they watched me get on the wrong elevators without saying a word. I came back down livid and the manager on duty looked like a deer in the headlights. He pointed to the right elevators, not once offering to assist me with my bags which were falling all over. I told my 3 year old to pull her carseat on to the elevator and the manager said "Oh let me help" and tossed the carseat on the elevator after my daughter dragged it most of the way. It was APPALLING. Parking was in the back of the hotel, it was out of tickets, the staff told me I could park in metered parking overnight but I got a ticket. The pool was GROSS. It was cold and the caulking was peeling off. This is a has-been hotel. The carpet was disgusting. The bed was the only redeeming feature, comfy with clean crisp sheets. The restaurant was God-Awful, filthy, the food was cold and icky looking. Room Service breakfast, oddly, was fantastic. I complained and was told I would receive a $200 credit on my credit card but it NEVER happened. Don't stay here unless you like an uninterested staff and questionable cleanliness. Oh and the night staff, a bunch of young men who want to do the minimum work, they actually resent you for asking for anything. 3 men watched me struggle after I checked in, not one of them offered or thought to assist me. Pathetic.

A total disappointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/06/06
The Crowne Plaza corporation should be ashamed to have their name on the front of this hotel! I was at this hotel for 5 days for a conference in Aug 2006. I experienced many problems with my room; from no A/C to bad smells to no accessories like toilet paper. The staff was not interested in helping me to solve my problems. Even after intervention from the coporate offices, they still did nothing to fix my problems. Many others who attended the same conference had similar problems with little help from the staff. Do not pay attention to their announcement of renovations. The hotel is old, dirty an in poor physical condition! BEWARE! VERY BAD!!

Great Weekend!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/22/06
We loved this hotel! Our room was clean, spacious, quiet, and the beds were deliciously comfortable! We found the staff helpful and service was prompt. A great location for our girls' 20 year college reunion weekend.

We wouldn't go back there
By Patty, 02/23/06
Our room had some issues and the food wasn't anything to write home about. It wasn't worth our money. We could have gone somewhere cheaper and had better living conditions.

Radisson is now Crowne Royal Plaza...AWEFUL
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/20/05
When I made my reservation about a month ago, this was a Radisson hotel. Only by luck did I call to confirm my reservation and discovered this was now a Crowne Plaza Hotel. We had never stayed at this hotel, so I imagine it would have taken a while to figure out we were now looking for a Crowne hotel. We found it. However, as I explained to the manager, we were in town for an evening show. We chose this hotel because it had an indoor/outdoor pool which was to be our entertainment saturday afternoon as we celebrated our anniversary without our 4 year old daughter for the first time since her birth. We were utterly disappointed to find out that the pool was inoperable. While I can appreciate a problem might develop, the manager told us the pool had been down for several days. I had called the hotel just one day before our visit to determine if my early check-in request looked good, and I asked if we could use the pool after noon if a room wasn't available. I was told that we could. Obviously an intentional lie, in fact, there was absolutely no work done on the pool the entire duration of our stay. As I explained to the manager, our stay at the hotel revolved around the use of the pool. He refused to discount our room or upgrade us to a room of better quality. He did however let me know that he would let us cancel our room without a fee; the first clerk at the counter told us we would have to pay for the room anyway. Since we wanted to celebrate our anniversary rather than spend the afternoon looking for another hotel in an area where we had never been, we stayed. It then took us 30 minutes and three trips back to the counter to find the parking area. This was apparently under construction so a back entrance had to be found. There were no signs visible indicating the lot provided access to the hotel on a certain floor only. When we got to our room, the floor was not clean and there were coffee stains on the sink counter which we cleaned ourselves. Also, I had inquired when I made the reservation about transportation to and from the show (less than 3 miles away), and was told the hotel had shuttle service that could take us to and from the show. When we showed up at the hotel, the story was drastically different. Now it seems, the shuttle is only for service to the airport, unless they are slow. Of course they weren't, and they never intended to provide transportation back since they don't run after 10:00 pm. So we used a taxi service. The price wasn't cheap, and it even cost $0.75 to call the taxi from our hotel room. The manager on saturday when we arrived and the manager on sunday when we left know our story very well. Neither offered, nor obliged at my request, to discount our room, upgrade our room, or help us find another hotel in the area with a pool. I would really like to hear back from you if this is the type of service you expect of Crowne Plaza hotels, and if you just expect us to accept the service we experienced at one of your most recently opened hotels. Fortunately the show we saw was great and was the highlight of our anniversary, despite the treatment and dissappointment we experienced at your hotel in Clayton Missouri. Cary & Jan
