worst place ever
By Phillip, 08/03/08
I booked a double occupancy room and they gave me a single with two adults this was not going to work, The staff at the motel was not even willing to try to help with the issue and charged us an extra 10.00 for a cot! Of course we had paid for the double and they would not even attempt to give us credit for the cost difference. The rooms are small and don't have any washcloths so a person can take a shower. THIS IS THE WORST PLACE EVER TO STAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't Stay Here: Rude, Fleas & Broken AC
By kelly, 06/25/08
My parents and sisters have stayed here on several occasions and it was fine. This time the following happened: - Non-smoking rooms had smoke coming in from exhaust fans in bathroom from upstairs smoking rooms.Changed rooms but still bad. - Had to wait 45 minutes at checkin because under-staffed. - Rooms are dirty; stained sheets; dead bugs in bathroom; bathroom room floor was sticky. - Received multiple bug or flea bites -- not sure what it was -- in room #122. - Air conditioning broke in the middle of the night in room #122 - Ran out of food in the complimentary breakfast room. - Charged $70 a night in South County?! Come on! The place was in the news in February for renting to a street gang: "...several parties inside rooms at the Oak Grove Inn on South Lindbergh Boulevard. Suspect furnished the cocaine, marijuana and booze, police say." I could deal with all of this but when I spoke to the Front Desk Manager, Octavia Knighten, she was rude and offered no apologies or resolution. She said "Take it up with Travelocity". She also wouldn't let me speak to the GM who was chatting on the phone in her office next door to room #122. Ugh. Never again.

wedding weekend
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/19/08
The servie was excellent along with a very comfortable room. We travel with a wedge for my husband comfort and always ask for extra pillows to help with the angle that we need for his comfort. Guess what... the room had plenty of pillows that was nice and firm for his comfort. The staff was always friendly when we were coming and going. We will be staying again when we come for another visit to St.Louis.

Never go there
By justtony1969, 01/31/07
Stayed there overnight on a weekend. We had no hot water. We were told that housekeeping would have to reset the hot water heater and it would take 15-20 to heat up. After 30 minutes there was still no hot water. Housekeeping checked it and told us it would be another 30-45 minutes for hot water. Finally had to shower in an adjoining room. Front desk clerk was on the phone with personal call three of the four times I went to talk with her. Not very professional.

Very Impressed
By Debbie, 09/20/06
LIKED: great value, very clean, early housekeeping, easy access, close to shopping and eateries, courteous staff, offered coupon for free car wash. DISLIKED: maintenance man smoked in room or bathroom, thought the staff could have been better at greeting/acknowledging guests. We will stay again for our next St Louis visit.

On the skimpy side
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/12/06
The staff were very polite and as helpful as they were allowed to be... but we had to ask for extra washcloths both days we were there (3 people in the room and they only put out 2 washcloths although the linen holder has places for 4) Their webpage is misleading, it lists amenities such as coffee pot, iron & ironing board and hairdryer, but these are evidently only in the rooms with a mini kitchen and when we asked for a coffeepot we were refused because our room wasn't one with a minikitchen. There were several in our group and some got rooms with mini kitchens and some not for no apparent reason. The whole place smelled of stale smoke but the rooms were clean, the breakfast area was small and choices limited, but the staff kept it well stocked and clean, and overall the staff is this motel's best asset. Personally, I'd try another place before I'd go back again.

Very inexpensive & surprisingly nice
By James, 10/11/05
I was a bit leery about booking this "off-chain" and inexpensive hotel. But it seemed well-maintained, the staff was very pleasant, and I would go back.

OK, but nothing special at all
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/14/05
Hotel was decent, but not worth the price. Gave me and my girlfriend room 101, so we were basically in the lobby which I did not like. That room was also located right next to the pool, which was no big deal seeing that we stayed there in November, but the problem was the kitchen staff liked to prance around outside our window since that was their break area. So we had to listen to them gab while they smoked and lost out on any real privacy. Just was not a comfortable place at all and I won't go back.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/24/05
We were at the hotel on July,21,2005 and had a very nice stay. The room was extremely clean and comfortably. All the staff was friendly and helpful. We can.t said anything bad about the hotel or staff.
