Decent Room - Parking's a Hassle

Stayed: Nov 23 - 26, 2006
Location: Downtown
In the heart of the city. Lots to do from just walking around to horse carriage rides. Lots of restaurants, arch, zoo, etc.
Parking:
They charged $10.00/night for parking.
Very Limited On-site, though. Offsite is down the street around the corner..a pain when checking out.
When I placed my reserv. I specifically asked if parking was onsite and was simply told yes.
I didn't know I should ask about limited spacing or offsite parking. Offsite fee should be adjusted down...way down.
Hotel Design:
Very appealing inside, especially to kids. They dug the openness, water fountains, and all of the holiday decor, I think.
Pool/Arcade area, swimming pool/sauna were all available and very nice.
Elevators:
Not sure what the deal was here but I spent more time on the stairs then on the elevators..but I was only on the 5th floor. I never saw an "out of order" sign; yet out of 4 elevators (2 in each bank), only 1-2 seemed to work at any given time...absolutely ridiculous. Stairs were kinda nasty too so I grumbled all the way up of course.
Room Service:
Yikes. I ordered room service (pizza) Friday night. The lady who took my order hangs up on me while I was asking her a question. The funny part is, she was irritated when I called back to finish asking my question. Just wanted to know about when I should expect the food in my room so I could be there.
Again, yikes! Scary Chick.
Food was there in 30 minutes...I gave the lady my visa. Why did I do that...now she's really mad! "I did not know you would pay in credit, I will have to go downstairs and do not know how long I be."
Say Wha??
So I ask, "How Long Will You Be???"
"10-15 minutes," she says.
Long story short...bring cash..these folks are cuckoo for cocoa puffs.
The charge on my credit card was The Fish Market, 33 bucks!..I only ordered 2 pizzas.
Breakfast (Included):
WAS GREAT!
Made to order. Or you can just go through the buffet line. I recommend the made to order. The chef is awesome and a nice guy. My sister, brother-in-law and Mother loved the omelets.
Room:
Comfortable, mostly clean, no weird smells.
Although the bathroom was way too small.
2 TV's but the remotes didn't work on the one in the living room area.
Wireless Internet is free everywhere else but Embassy Suites...$9.99/day...ridiculous.
They also won't let you hook up a personal dvd player. Again, not smart.
All in all ....I have to say that the only reason I picked this place over a hotel near the airport is the location. To be honest, the trade-offs weren't worth it.
I gave my concerns/complaints to Aleisha at the front desk and she did give me a slight break on the parking fee so I was thankful.
She also told me that they are under renovations (or will be going under renovations in the near future?).
Definitely could use some major tweaking.
