Holiday Inn Express Westport, Kansas City

The hotel is OK, and the staff fairly friendly, but I cannot recommend that anyone stay here because of the fact that the parking is unprotected and the hotel is located in an area that may attract a seedier element, or, as the hotel manager put it to me via email, "petty criminals" and "desperate and despicable thieves." Don't get me wrong. I love Westport and, when I am out in Kansas City, it is my selected destination. But my wife and I stayed at this Holiday Inn after seeing a musical on a Thursday night, and, upon arriving at the hotel, there was not a soul in the streets. I awoke on Friday morning to find a window of my car smashed out and a few of my belongings missing. The fact that there were no people "out" that evening leads me to believe that my car was not broken into by someone simply strolling by, but rather by an individual who targeted the Holiday Inn parking lot and was there specifically to vandalize and steal. The hotel won't do anything about it except help the police in any investigation*, which I understand, but the fact remains that any and all cars are vulnerable in a part of town susceptible to the criminal element the manager described to me. Therefore, I strongly urge anyone to consider a different hotel when looking for a place to stay. It's probably just a matter of time before this one falls to the savages, and you don't want to be there when it happens. I highly, highly do not recommend. *Anyone who has ever had a vehicle broken into can quite confidently say that there will be no ensuing police investigation as, short of a miracle, there is never any clues left at the scene of the crime.

So I've been TRYING to reserve some rooms and a meeting space for my staff to come and use this location for some off-sites. I've literally left 10 messages on the manager's voicemail (because the desk staff can't reserve a board room or even tell me if it's available ... in fact none of their stories match up). So, I'm NOT going to stay here. Talk about insane. I tried and tried to get ONE question answered before I made the reservation, and ended up getting NO response. I'm not sure they want people staying here!

We had reserved a king room. The room was small and crowded. The padded furniture was dusty, the sheer curtains had 2 large rips in them. Our closet was a rod with hangers with the ironing board on the side of it. The bathroom was poor quality with thin plastic toilet seat and the tub bottom (which I refused to use) had been painted a whiter white than the top half. Stay away from room 616. Next time we will stay in a Motel 6 and get what we pay for. We did like the breakfast and the staff were friendly. I would not recomend this hotel.

The staff was very helpful, the desk manager, Sophia, was very helpful to our group. The room was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was great and started my conference day out with a nice meal--included in the room cost, which saved me money. There is a bus stop right out side the hotel, did have some trouble figuring it out--get the information from the flier on the bus or Google transit! I stayed 6 days and had no problems with the hotel itself. Great pubs to eat about 6 blocks away--McCoys is great and I heard the Beer Kitchen is too.

I really didn't dislike anything about this place. It was right there close to the action you could walk from every bar and we had a blast!!! Plenty of room and very clean!! Great place to stay!

close to the westport plaza. Westport Plaza is fun for shopping just having fun with family. the hotel is close to the store, checkers the hospital. Yhe neighborhood is great.It is part of old Kansas City so the area is beautiful. Not too far from the airport. kansas CItys' Marriott is in a good location if you want to be close to the pleasurs of eating food and fun

Check in was a bit slow and room was not quite ready but staff was friendly. Room was clean, bed was VERY comfy. Plenty of towels and accessories. Right in Westport two blocks from Beaumont Club. Video games in every room - pretty cool. Soda and Ice machine on each floor. Breakfast was so so but again very nice staff. Check out was fast. Overall it was a great stay for a fair price. If you need a roll away plan to pay about 10.00 more. Also there is a computer in the lobby you can use to check email etc. Would stay again.

This could be a very nice facility but I have real issues with the cleanliness of the rooms. Ours was in real need of vacuuming, dusting and bathroom floor cleaning.

I thought this was a very nice hotel and it was in a great location for enjoying the Westport nightlife (just a 3-block walk to the most popular bars). It was also very convenient to get to the Plaza from this hotel, although it would probably be a little too far to walk there. The lobby was under renovation when we were there and the elevators were pretty outdated, but everything else seemed very new and very clean, including the hallways and breakfast area. Our room was very large and also very clean. I had been worried about finding parking in this area, but we didn't have any problem. The continental breakfast was excellent. There was a lot to choose from and the quality of the food was great. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to friends.

Old Westport is a great place to visit. It offers a wide variety of shops, restaurants, music and pubs all within walking distance of the motel. We felt safe and secure walking all around. Many motels offer exercise facilities. Westport Holiday Inn uses the health center for St. Luke's hospital. Get a day pass and visit the well-staffed and full service gym facility. The staff was friendly and helpful. Just great!
