Worse than staying home during the hurricane
I evacuated here during a hurricane, but had I known what this place was like I would have just stayed home and taken my chances. The pics online make it look nice, but basically it is dirty and rundown. Our first night there we bought disinfectant and cleaned the bathroom ourselves. The toilet was broken (it overflowed out of the back every time you flushed it) and many of the light bulbs were burnt out. We put on the AC and left to go eat lunch and the room was still hot when we got back. When we reported it, they told us there was nothing wrong with the AC. (To which I replied "Do you want to sleep in this room??") We bought two fans so we could sleep without sweating to death. They happily supplied us with a mop to clean up the mess whenever we used the toilet. (They fixed it the next day.) The pool was a joke. I would have been scared to go in it, for fear of catching some kind of disease. And to top it all off, the room smelled horrible, so we also invested in some air freshener to help us survive our stay.
Positives? We were able to keep our dogs with us ($20 refundable deposit) and the location was good.
