Love this place!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/28/11
I came and stayed the whole week at this place. They had a wonderful resturant, which also had a band playing 1 night we were there. The rooms were a good size and had nice pillow-top beds. I was really surprised by the quality of the hotel, since they had changed from a La Quinta. My kids loved the kiddie pool, and never wanted to leave it. I would recommend this to anyone coming to the Mayo clinic, or any event.

Remodeled, So Very Nice, Plan to Return!
By Robyn, 8/14/09
The whole place got a facelift, and it is so nice now. The beds were comfy, rooms were spacious, the staff was very helpful. The breakfast room was busy, but, there was plenty of food, and everything was very good! Our whole family agrees we will return every year. They don't have a resturant in the hotel, but there are so many close by, it doesn't matter.

Clean hotel in good area
By Karen, 9/24/07
The rooms are clean and neat. The indoor pool and hot tub is great...very clean and good size. There is not a restaurant onsite, but they do provide a hot breakfast each morning. Plenty of restaurants close by also. The area seemed pretty safe and it is not a bad drive to the clinic. Lots of free parking.

Poor service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/6/07
If you are a business traveler and rely on hotel internet access for business this hotel is not a good choice. I have stayed at this hotel several times within the past three months while on business in Rochester. I will not be returning. At least 50% of the time the wireless internet network was not working. The front desk staff was rather rude when I called to inquire. They offered no explaination of the issue or any information as to when it may be fixed. There were no appologies or compensation for the lack of service. At over $80 a night I would expect better service. Upon arriving on my last visit, I was not even greeted and had to wait as the desk clerk took two phone calls while I waited to check in. The rooms are average - nothing special. Hallways are musty and smell like stale cigarette smoke. Breakfast room looked like it had not been cleaned in a few days. Pool area is outdated and in need of renovation. Parking lot was full of trash, and dog droppings in the lawn. The attached bar seems to draw local drinkers, and I have observed staggering drunks in the lobby and hallways. I would not recommend this hotel to families, vacationers, or business travelers.

what a circus
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/19/07
This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I was looking for another hotel on this site today when I saw all the reviews and how some people had great experiences. Maybe I was there on a busy weekend but I don't know what those people are talking about---it was awful there. From the front desk to maintenance of the rooms it was all horrible. I reserved a non smoking room with two beds...I got a smoking room with one king. I had to cram in with teenage sports players and deal with it...and the room was a disaster...the whole place was disorganized.

Great Managers
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/10/07
We recently stayed at the La Quinta and the stay was a home away from home. The staff is now my family. While my stay there, we had a death in the family and the managers were so helpful and kind, it helped us get through tough times. I would definetly recommend this hotel to anyone that will be traveling to Rochester, MN. You will receive great hospitality and a home like feeling.

Awesome Experience
By Kato, 7/9/07
We came to the La Quinta to for a Wedding Reception. The hall was beautiful and the guest rooms were newly remodeled with pillow top mattresses! The staff was great, very accommodating to our needs. The General Manager even helped us with our luggage since we are elderly. She is very kind and polite. The pool area was also a great place to hang out and have fun. We definitely would recommend this hotel to everyone! A++++++++

General Manager?????Hmmmm..Poor choice........
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/23/07
I happen to be a long time committed guest of the La Quinta Hotel. I travel a lot for buisness, I also go to Rochester MN, once a year to go to the Mayo for my anual. A few years ago, I was pleased to find that they were putting a La Quinta Hotel in Rochester MN. I of course made arrangments to stay there on my next visit. That was 3 years ago. My visit at that time was great! Nothing bad to say. But now over the last 2 times I have gone there, it has not been good at all. The place is a mess. By "mess" I mean how it seems to be running. When I showed up for my reservation, while waiting for a clerk to check me in, I overheard an argument coming from behind the desk. I just waited. Then a girl comes out to help me, who seemed decent enough, was kind and profesional looking. Then all the sudden, the General Manager, (Susan Pursley) came up front, and continued arguing with a man who was now on the other side of the desk. I was just shocked. I could tell that this was not another employee, and it was not a guest either. They were fighting about a personal matter!!! I was SHOCKED!!!! I found out later from the clerk, that this man was the GM's brother???? I personally was not impressed with this at all. This made for the whole experience to be different than what I normally experience with La Quinta. I also would not ever be interested in staying at this La Quinta again. I now will stay at a different hotel while in Rochester MN.

Great Place to Stay - Newly Remodeled
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/8/07
My family & I stayed at the LaQuinta this past weekend while my brother was having surgery at St Mary's Hospital. The staff was nice and very accommodating to our needs. The hotel was very clean and attractive. All of our rooms were very nice and the beds were extremely comfortable with nice fluffy pillows. All rooms had a fridge & microwave. The deluxe breakfast was very good and was served until 11 am on weekends!! One morning we had scrambled eggs & sausage and the other we had biscuits & gravy, along with the standard belgian waffles, cereal, toast/bagels, fruit & doughnuts. They even offered 3 different kinds of cappachino as well as coffee & juices. We were originally booked at the Travelers Hotel downtown near the Mayo Clinic and left there after our first night. (Please read my review on the Travelers if you think you might stay there - it was awful!) The LaQuinta was a welcome change for us and made our stay much better. The LaQuinta offered the same free shuttle service as the Travelers. We had our own transportation and travel time to the hospital was only about 5 minutes and not difficult to drive at all. Two nearby restaurants were very good - The Ranch had wonderful home style food and an excellent salad bar w/soup and Mr Pizza (located right next to The Ranch) had wonderful homemade pizza. Both restaurants were only about 2-3 places down from the LaQuinta. We were also close to shopping (Kohls, Wal-Mart, Shopko, etc.) Should we need to return to Rochester in the future we will definitely return to The LaQuinta & wouldn't hesitate to recommed it to anyone else.
