Awful. To be avoided unless its the only option.

Like most, we were attracted to this place because of its location (a 2 blocks from Mayo). When we arrived I waited in the car with our daughter while my wife went to go check us in. I knew we had booked a budget hotel, so was a little worried, however, I could see into the lobby window and from what I could see I thought we might be ok. They have some nice landscaping so I figured they must care. Then I noticed the rust on the hand rail going up the stairs, so I was becoming skeptical again.
Soon my wife came out and motioned for us to start unloading the car. Upon stepping out of the car I was immediately hit by a musty smell. I entered the lobby and realized that my eyes had been playing tricks on me. The carpet was dirty and the whole place looked kind of shabby. The whole place smelled like a cross between a musty basement and a nursing home.
I proceeded up the elevator and found our room. I inserted the key card and the door blinked....but wouldn't open. Sometimes it wouldn't even blink. On the 5th try it did open. Upon entering the room I was immediately uncomfortable. There were huge spots on the carpet. This was disturbing enough, but then I realized that they were not just stains from some spill...they had never really been cleaned up. This was not a "stained" carpet this was a filthy dirty carpet. I immediately turned to my wife and said we can't stay here more than tonight (it was about midnight and we had to be up at 5). I hardly slept because I was so creeped out.
Other detractors: The bed spreads were stained. There were cobwebs all along the ceiling. Bugs in the shower. The 2nd bedroom had a bedside table with a lamp... but the lamp was unplugged and there was no outlet anywhere on that side of the room.
We were paying $65 for a suite at Travelers, we found a much better motel for about 10 dollars more.
