Gatehouse Suites Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids

We went to Grand Haven, Michigan for a last minute mini vacation but decided to stay in Grand Rapids because it was a little cheaper. I booked the Gatehouse because it advertised a two bedroom/two bath hotel room and five people went on our trip. While the room was nice and clean, it wasn't exactly a two bedroom. It had two areas with beds but it was more like one big room with different areas (it was a loft). So if you have people in your party that snore, be prepared to listen to them all night. Also, it was hard to have two tvs on because they were competing with each other because the room was so open. So again, be prepared that it doesn't exactly give you bedROOMS--more like bed areas. On the positive side, there is PLENTY of shopping and restaurants in the area. Again, we went to Grand Haven (beach) which is only abt 45 minutes away so you can have access to beach towns without the beachtown price. Overall, nice place to stay but I wouldn't stay there again with a large party because of the openess. Val, the employee that checked us in, was nice.

We like the location to everything in the area. We start our x-mas shopping each year after holloween and this place is a gem. It's in-between two malls and 20 minute drive to the Rivertown crossing mall. There is all kind of resturants from fast foods to elegant dining. The penthouse suite with fireplace was a welcoming after a long shopping spree. The rooms was excellent and the service was outstanding. I will re-visit this hotel in the future.

I'm on a business trip, got in very late (1:30am) long wait to get someone to answer night phone. Another couple trying to check in was there too. My business plans changed the next day, I called the Hotel as soon as I could, it was 5 pm. I get it was late in the day and told them my situation. Insisted I pay the second night. I proposed to pay half day they declined. When I got to the lobby, they cited the fact I had booked with Expedia and they couldn't do anything...I would have to work it out with Expedia. I immediately called Expedia, they told me they could after they called the Hotel. The Hotel declined to cooperate, basicly they lied to me. At that point I had been here 16hr and was going to be billed for two nights . I doubt they take seriously the "Hospitaity Industry" So I stayed the second night and will have to do all my driving tomorrow. I'll survive but it really sucked!!!

Everyone seemed to know my name, and the entire staff from front desk to housekeeping was extraordinarily professional. The room was beautiful and had a fully appointed kitchen complete with china, glasses, and silverware! The hot breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful. Wonderful experience!

I stayed at the Residence Inn in one of the rooms that are two floors. The main floor had a living room area, office area and kitchen and then the bedroom was upstairs. I was very satisfied with my stay! I stayed with my one-year old daughter. It was nice to have the room upstairs where she could be napping and then I could be hanging out downstairs. The rooms were very clean. It was a nice, quiet stay. The value is excellent! The best thing about it and why I felt compelled to come and write a review was the level of service. The staff was just wonderful. Everyone was so so nice and helpful. When I went to have breakfast one morning (they have a great breakfast buffet) they went and got me a really nice high chair to use. I locked myself out of my room a couple of times (duh) and they were always super friendly with anything I needed. Their kindness just made it so pleasant to stay there. Even the people outside working on the lawn were friendly and polite. So...thanks for a great stay!
