Won't be returning anytime soon.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/8/09
We found this hotel on the internet. They actually gave us the internet price even though they were going to charge us more. That was nice. Overall, the room was small, the volume on the remote didn't work, didn't even have a tub, sheets are too small for the bed and there is about 8-10 inches at the end of the bed where the sheets didn't cover. They offer dish on demand movies, but they cost $14.00 to order them. The restaurant was great, good food. The Beacon Bar is so small, we didn't even have a seat. We drank one drink and left. It was 80 degrees in the room when we got there and we couldn't get the temp. to go down even after we turned the heat off. We opened the window for a long time and periodically got up to open it in the middle of the night. It's beautifully decorated but I would not stay here again.

Overall a very pleasant experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/17/07
Great location. Nice, comfortable rooms. Great food and service at Minervas. Extremely disappointed with The Beacon Lounge. Service was non-existent. Sat for 15 minutes with no acknowledgement from staff. People who entered after us were waited on first. Had to ask for a menu from the waitress who then continued to ignore us. Had the feeling we were not welcome. Tried to complain to manager, but were told he could not be located.

Not quite awful!
By Robin, 9/27/05
I loved the location. We had a balcony too, that was great. Initially, the room was small but nice. It ended there. Our first day the phones didn't work in our room and our coffee cups were dirty. Day 2 our room service ( dirty) tray sat outside our door for over 24 hours. The next day we had to call the desk at 3:30 to report our room had not been cleaned. The 4th day was perfect, no complaints. The 5th day, we returned at 11:30pm from a long day to find our room had not been cleaned. I loved the location, but that's it. We won't be back there nor will we ever recommend it. For what they charge, I expect cleanliness.

View of the Bay
By Tom, 9/24/05
A local landmark hotel & restaurant. Topped by Beacon Bar with 180 degree panoramic view. View includes sunset and bay. Tallest building in town. Stay in the tower section of the hotel. Eat at Minerva's Restaurant. Cocktail at the Beacon Bar. Afterwards take a stroll downtown and along the bay.

Love that VIEW!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/1/05
We loved the charm of the old hotel that has been well kept in the city, and the convenience of being one block from the beach and one block from downtown. The staff was not very friendly or helpful and gave our daughter a hard time about their reservation because they made it through the internet with a discount service. The Top of the Park Bar is the best--don't miss it on the weekends with Tom at the piano. The view is spectacular and the drinks are reasonable and good. Order appetizers if you don't feel like leaving for dinner. They're great too.

Jewel of Traverse City
By Mike R, 5/24/05
Loved the location. Rooms are brand new and perfect. The food at Minervas Restaurant was some of the best I have ever had!!! The service from the front desk to the restaurant to the cocktail lounge was provided by a staff and management that are there for you. They really know how to make you feel special. We attended a wedding in April and fell in love with the property and the town. Can't wait to go back in the Summer or Fall.

Go Somewhere Else...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/12/05
It was a nice hotel..but not worth the prices. They say in your room you get a mini bar...more like mini fridge. The views werent that great and the food's too expensive! I would definately go somewhere else next time.
