Hiawatha Motel, Escanaba

This is the single dirtiest hotel I've ever had the displeasure of staying at. At 55 a night I've found better accommodations in Detroit. The toilet was filthy despite being having the "sanitized" sticker over the seat. There were cigarette butts on the tv and behind the dressers. The entire place smelled of bile and feculence. There were several shady looking people constantly roaming the parking lot. To top it all off there were marks on the door where it looked like it had been jimmied open more than once. I will never stay there again.

During our last stay, I misplacced an earing. We turned around and the owners assured us they would look for it. When we got home a message was left on the answering machine that they had found it and would mail it to us. The next day they phoned to make sure we had received the message and to make sure they had the proper adress. Now that is service beyond what is received in the larger chains.

I go to the U.P. of Michigan about 4 or 5 times a year and almost always end up at the Hiawatha Motel in Escanaba. The staff are so friendly and the rooms are always nice and clean. It is an easy walk to the mall and Walmart and some places to eat. I almost feel like it is my second home.

Liked it because it is a very quiet little motel and it was very comfortable and had a very nice price. They have a very nice little continental breakfast. they also have coupons for the casino.

We have stayed there many times when we go to the concerts at the casino and have never had a bad experience there. Rooms are always clean and the people very friendly and helpful.A very good place to stay and about half the price of the big chain hotels. We are staying there again next weekend when we go to Escanaba.

I have stay at this motel about 4 or 5 differ time since 1970, and have always enjoy my stay there. Each time I stay it is being like a home away from home. I throughly enjoyed my stay at this motel. The rooms are large and very roomy. The staff is very helpful and kind. The rooms are very clean and the beds are extremly comfortable. I reccommend this motel with ten stars!!
