Remarkable value, wish there were a Drury on the East Coast!
We stayed at this Drury Inn for 3 nights to attend my nephew's wedding in nearby Southfield, MI. My significant other and I, as well as the rest of my family, were very impressed. The Inn is only about a half hour from the Detroit Wayne International Airport, which we flew into from New Hampshire. Very easy to find, right off the highway.
The lobby & open areas were very nicely appointed with up-to-date decor, a wood-panelled fireplace which they had running each night, generous tables for guests to gather at during breakfast and happy hour, and a large television to catch up on news or whatever during breakfast. The buffet breakfast offered a great deal of hot selections each morning (not just bagels, cereal & juice/coffee), and the happy hour each night offered 3 complimentary beverages (including alcoholic!) and an "appetizer buffet" that you could make a meal out of!
The rooms were very pleasant, beds comfortable, quiet at night (couldn't hear guests outside). The only minor complaint I had (and it was MINOR) was that the closet in our particular room was rather shallow, so hanging a suit & several other formal items made closing the doors rather cumbersome - but the drawers in the wardrobe/entertainment center were very useful. The closets vary from room to room so this might not be a problem for others. The indoor pool and whirlpool jacuzzi were well maintained and not busy in early December. There was a small room near the lobby that offered internet access & printers, which came in handy for me at one point. It is located quite close (just up the street) to various upscale malls in Troy. Parking was convenient to our room location.
To boot, there is a TGI Friday's attached to the building that we visited on our first afternoon for a late lunch (didn't even have to go outside the building!)
We had a group rate, as a block of rooms were reserved for wedding guests, so of course our price was less than normal, but the regular rates we saw were very reasonable for what is offered.
Overall, I highly recommend this location. We only wish we could have stayed longer, and I am disappointed to find that there don't appear to be any Drury Inns on the East Coast that we could stay at for a local long weekend getaway!
