Days Inn Sturbridge, Sturbridge

Upon arriving at this particular Days Inn, My wife and I were happy that we had only spent $53.00 for the room and it was close to the location of an event we were attending. As we pulled in we found it to be back off the road and the grounds had a woodsy atmosphere which was to our liking. That would be the end of anything to our liking, as this hotel was a disaster! We rented a Queen bed room and entered to find a queen sized headboard attatched to the wall, with a double bed and THE MOST UNCOMPFORTABLE BED we have EVER slept in! So neither of us got much sleep! It was a smoking room, with no ashtrays and when I went to get one at the office, was given a dirty candleholder. As my wife went to take a shower before we went out, there was NO HOT WATER! I went to ask if we could change rooms with maybe 10 cars in the lot, was told no and they would look into it...never happened! Alas I went to wash up with cold water and found a filthy face cloth on the bar to use. I would have to say, this was possibly the WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE we have ever encountered!!!

The ad said it was newly refurbished, maybe in 1964. The furniture was shabby and the blankets had holes in them. The sheets were wrinkled so you couldn't tell if they were clean. The AC was packed with dirt and it made a lot of noise even after I cleaned it out. The bathroom was clean but had a strange odor of room deodorizer that interfered with my breathing. TThe mattresses were cheap, old and thin and absolutely unsleepable. I feel that i was ripped off for this one...We had to leave at 3am with no sleep.

The room was clean and comfortable and the grounds were beautiful. The motel is pet-friendly with nice areas to walk the dogs. The only negative was the huge unleashed "mastiff-like" dog on the neighboring property. Was a little concerned to walk too far, but enjoyed walking around the motel grounds. Very quiet and peaceful.
