Hyannis Harbor Hotel, Hyannis

Been going to the Cape all my life-the rich side of my family had property in Osterville (7miles West of Hyannis) since 1910. Since we sold the property a while back my wife & I go every other year but always stay 200 yds. North of The Harbor Hotel in The Hyannis Holiday Motel. Every room on the 2nd floor has a great harbour view. We tried The Harbour Hotel as a change of pace. Reserved a standard king but the view stunk (as per many reviews here) so the front desk clerk gave us a comp upgrade to what has to be the best room on the property, #238- wrap around on the second floor overlooking Ocean St. & the harbour with a 270 degree view offf the narrow balcony. When you book ask for the upgraded room with a view. The hotel is laid out badly with way too many stairs & hard to navigate. The Bluewater Grille is on the property but not affilliated with the hotel. The breakfast buffet is $12.95. There are way too many other great places for less $$$ like The Black Cat next door plus numerous restaurants all around the harbour & on Main St. in Hyannis. We will move back to The Hyannis Holiday from now on. ...hope this helps.

This hotel was nothing like you would see from the website. The rooms smelt like mold and there was mildew all over the shower. The bottom of the shower bounced, wasn't quite sure if I would go through the floor or not. Not only was this DUMP a huge disappointment, we had reservations for only one night and when I received my credit card statement, I was charged for two nights. I have called the manager John Burcume three times to have my credit card credited back with no response. Now it's time to get the big wigs involved. The only thing this hotel has to offer is the access to the ferries right across the street other than that I would have rather slept in a gas station bathroom..... that pretty much says it all!

The pictures of the lobby and the umbrella tables are the only part of this hotel that you would't mind being in. The room we had was filthy, black mold all around the bathroom window, curtains that were visibly dirty, beds dirty, the mattress pad only was on half the mattress, bedding was old and dirty. I had to ask them to put clean sheets on our bed, which I don't believe they did. The housekeeping was a joke, the bed would be made and that was it. We're not sure what housekeeping did, however we are sure they DID NOT clean anything. Talked to manager and the head of housekeeping and asked them to please clean the bathroom, both said they would make sure of it. NEITHER did! The pool area was old and the pool, hot tub and kiddy pool were all dirty; we wouldn't dare get in it. While in the lobby waiting to see the manager there were other unhappy guest there also. DON'T waste your money. On the other had the restaurant "SPANKY's across the street was great, wonderful service and food that was the only enjoyable part of our stay at the Hyannis Harbor Hotel!

Perfect location...harbor is across the street, Nantucket and Vineyard farrys across the street saves you money on parking for that. With in walking distance of beach, JFK memorial, food, main street, and shopping. Hotel itself is nice, we had a jacuzzi room with a balcony. only down side to this room is the only other jacuzzi room is right beside each other and it is very load when other room was filling up their tub at 11:30 at night. They have a huge fire pit, very nice. There out door pool, hot tube, and bar were not open yet when we stayed...which was a bummer. Also they do not have complementary breakfast, you get 10% off your order at little coffie shop across the street....food is really really bad!!!

The pictures on the internet certainly validate the old saying don't judge a book by its cover. Do NOT judge a hotel by it's picture. The lobby is clean and new, the rooms are old and dingy and small. The pool area is from the 70's and has blue tacky floors that are dated and dingy. I would not allow my children to swim and for heavens sake NOT go into the hot tub. The front of the building had a bar that looked like "the regulars" come to, and is also old, dated, and would not want to eat or drink from this area. This hotel is a dump!!!! If we paid $69.00 a day, and not $169.00, it maybe would be ok.....but the price was so out of range!!! The location was good......and the restaurant nearby "Spanky's" made the stay great!!!! AND the coffee shop on the corner was great!!!! Do not be fooled by this hotel. I hope they update their builiding to at least deserve a few more stars b/c their location is great andsurrounded by awsome restaurants. The pictures on the website are NOT AT ALL what it looks like. Dated, dingy, and old.....really creepy rooms. My likes were location and my dislikes was the overall hotel.

We have just returned from this hotel 21/8/2008), the room was dark and smelt musty but we put that down to it possibly being shut up for a few days, on reflection should probably have asked the so-called management to change it. We arrived after a flight from the U.K. and the drive to Cape Cod at 8.45 p.m. only to find that the restaurant had shut (supposed to be open until 10.00.p.m.) - We found Spanky's just over the road - heaven! What food - luscious! After eating we returned to unpack and found we had one hanger, in spite of two requests to Reception they said they had no hangers - so we had to go and buy our own. Breakfast - such as it is was, was dreadful with polystyrene or cardboard cups and (miniscule) plates and plastic cutlery. Supposed to be "continental breakfast" - not sure what continent.One ancient domestic toaster among all the guests - joke, and no microwave to make porridge (oatmeal) that was there as there was no microwave provided, also no ordinary tea - it was all flavoured - yuk. Even alcohol was served in plastic - disgusting. Housekeeping never turned up for two days - again complained with no interest shown, on other days they didn't bother to make the beds just threw the covers over! Loo seat busted and sink could only be used with constanly running water as the plug didn't plug! Bathroom dingy and battered around although usable - just. Cleaning non-existant. However location really, really good and outside very nice. Just a short walk from Main St. and some very nice eating places, also Black Cat Restaurant next door almost, is really worth a visit, also for a decent breakfast the Egg & I on Main St. really good value and well cooked, but Spanky's is the jewel in the crown - not posh, but the food is heavenly. The hotel management must be Muppets not to maximise this wonderful asset, the place needs decorating and upgrading quickly, and some staff who actually want to provide a service and care about their reputation, this didn't spoil our holiday but we were disappointed as other U.S. hotels have been excellent. Cape Cod and Hyannis in particular is beautiful, this hotel really must try harder.

My husband and I were on a 30th anniversary vacation at the beginning of May. Before coming to Hyannis, we had been up and down the coast of Maine, to Boston, and to Plymouth,MA. All of this was wonderful!!! The motels I had researched on the web all honored their advertised prices and were as described. I had researched motels on their websites before we left and read reviews elsewhere on the web. Our trip went well until Hyannis. I went to the desk equipped with dated prices in hand. First, they would not honor the prices they advertised on the web for the exact date we were there. Then they walked me to a ground floor room that was promised to have a harbor view. No harbor view there but looking at a plastic covered-looking tent. There is also construction across from the motel so don't belive what you read about views either. The room and outside was shabby so I did not even enter. Not a happy camper when I left. Will never go back there. p.s. Don't judge this hotel by their pretty lobby. It is a fooler!! Dirty and smelly - don't book early -never sold out - the $219 room became $79 the week before arrival. Even the location is an urban dump. Watch for the critters sharing the room with you. Broken tub fixtures, cracked toilet seat. Not renovated as of Labor Day 2007.

My stay at the Hyannis Harbor Hotel was a big disappointment! The location was ideal. The room was not worth the $185.00 price. Phone was not always answered at the front desk. The office staff was not at all helpful. Very poor lighting in room and bathroom. No table or desk in the room. No vanity in bathroom to hold travel supplies. Sink and toilet were old and very low. They advertised as a refurbished hotel. Only the front office and face of the hotel were refurbished. The rooms were not refurbished.

We visited Hyannis Harbor Hotel on 8/30 for four nights. We enjoyed our stay very much. Upon check-in we got a ground floor room but on our request, lady at the reception was able to give us a room with better view on second floor. Rooms are very clean and we liked having chairs in the front corridor. Free breakfast in the morning is OK, but we would recommend to add some additional items. We enjoyed indoor pool and hot tub a lot because of cooler weather. Ferry to islands is just across the street and we saved on parking. Reception desk was extremely helpful and offered us free cots for kids. If you are planning a trip to Cape Cod, you got to try this hotel.
