American Motor Lodge, Sturbridge

We made reservation to stay in August 2009......got an e-mail confimation, although our card has not been charged. We called to get a voice confirmation and our call was transferred to another hotel. Out of curiosity, we took a ride out to see. It's supposed to be undergoing renovations, but was totally abandoned, We can't even find out how or if we need to cancel our reservations........................!

the pool is disgusting, rooms are dirty, and the whole place smelled like it hadnt been cleaned for years!!!! - go to the sturbridge host.. its about 100 bucks (through orbitz and other web deals) but worth it for the pool with lifeguard AND hot tub

The service was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. The hotel had that old-time motor lodge feel but was cleanly and modern at the same time. We first started visiting Sturbridge in 1999 and we have stayed here every summer for a week or more. If you're visiting Sturbridge, stay here. Don't even debate it.

This place is perhaps the most convenient location to Old Sturbridge Village where we spent 3 days in August 2006. After one night at a different facility we checked into the Best Western because of its proximity to Old Sturbridge Village and because it had an indoor pool. We almost turned away because of the dated nature of the building and lobby, however, we were more than satisfied with the condition and cleanliness. The indoor pool was just what we were looking for and very clean. Don't be put off by the non-traditional setting and location of the on premise restaurant. The menu had a full selection and the food was superior and the value was un-matched. The locals that we meet at dinner told us it was the best kept secret in Sturbridge. We couldn't agree more. Our room was very clean and the furnishings relatively new and in very good condition. The room was fresh and bright and comparable to hotels that charge 2 and 3 times as much. We used the on premise washer and drier and found them conveniently located. We will be staying here on our future trips to Sturbridge.
