Horrible Service Practices!
On a recent business trip, I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Frederick, MD. After my experience there, I will be sure to avoid them in the future. My first complaint is that when we checked in, we were told the pool closed at 11pm. We were not told that the hours changed depending on the day. After a hard days work, we just wanted to get in the pool, only to find out it was already closed. Secondly, one of our nights there, we waited approximately over one hour for towels and such (our room had been serviced that day, but we did not receive any towels to replace the ones they took with them). Finally, the last straw, I was awoken at 8AM, by a hotel employee (housekeeping I believe) knocking on my door, asking "When are you leaving?" the day of our check out (which is at 12:00P) - I was completely dumbfounded by this, I have NEVER experienced this at another hotel. Worse even, she came back again at 10:45AM to again ask us when we were leaving, this time I told her that the room was paid for until noon so not to come back until after then. When we checked out, the front desk clerk asked us how our stay was, I said uhhhh, well I won't be back. She asked why and I told her about our "wake-ups" and she laughed saying "Yes that is not her fault, it's actually our hotel policy, because so many people check out early, so we send them around to see when they can start cleaning so we can have a fast turn around time for our guests coming in." What kind of business practice is that???? You pay for a hotel to sleep, and they come and wake you up, demanding to know when you're going to leave, over and over again. Not only that, but she did not even have her cart with her, she was carrying only a pen and a piece of paper. Even more concerning, if that is how the hotel is going to defend their actions, why, when I didn't get to the door for a few minutes, (after she had moved on to knocking on the next door)since I was sleeping (hadn't gotten done with my job and to sleep until 3AM), didn't she come in to start cleaning? I cannot imagine anyone being OK with this practice, this experience will definately make me think twice about staying at a Holiday Inn in the future.
