OH GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!
By NUCMEDBABE1, 08/05/08
Let's just say I'm glad to be home!!! I will NOT stay here again. The employees were too busy making sure the old man owner felt "LOVED" when he walked in the front door..."Good Morning Dr. Berger...." The room ssmelled of dog urine, despite my guarantee that I was NOT on a pet floor.-16. The crowning glory came when I saw a dog in the pool while staying in a cabana suite. (ANOTHER NON-PET ROOM) Yuk...save your money. I asked the front desk about the "Famous all you can eat Buffet"- Employees aren't even allowed to eat there...per the old man. Incredible. DON'T DO IT!!!!

Terrible, waste of money, false advertising
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/07/08
We just stayed here this weekend (off season) for a "romantic getaway". We will never go back. Not because of the facility, which i must say was nice, clean and had a lot of amenities to offer, but because of the false advertising, deception, and customer service (or lack thereof). We used ALL of our remaining points on our choice rewards to stay here and we wish we would have gone somewhere else. But Im glad that we did not actually pay to stay here. First of all, the "ocean view" rooms and "balcony's" are a joke. If you step outside the room there is a little tiny ledge that may fit 2 people standing, no room to even put 1 chair out there to sit and relax. If we looked to the left we could see a small bit of the ocean, but looking straight out all we saw were other hotels, the lower rooftop, and the busy noisy street. We could not even hear the waves of the ocean because of the numerous fans on the lower rooftop and the traffic on the street totally drowned it out. So much for a "romantic" and "relaxing" stay on the beach. They should be ashamed and embarrassed to mis-advertise like this. BE WARNED Next, our bathtub was stained and filthy. I did not shower in it. The heated indoor pool was closed off and under renovation while we were there. They did not tell us this when we booked the reservations. Now, this means that in order to go use the wirlpool, we had to walk outside in 30 degree weather in our bathing suits, to go in another entrance. Then we get there, and they charge $4 to use it. They did not tell us this either. What a joke!! I have never had to pay to use a whirlpool in a hotel and I never will again. It should be free, not to mention that we got there at 7:30, and they closed at 8:30. If we wanted to go back the next morning, they would charge again. They do however also have a steam room, sauna, eucylaptis room and weight room all included in this spa, but as I said they charge a fee. There is also a tanning bed that i asked to use. They told me, "for an EXTRA $3. Again, what a joke! I almost asked her if I could use the bathroom there, or if it would be an extra $2 fee plus toilet paper fee (joke). Be prepared. The food buffets are expensive and lousy. They rave about how good the food is, and it was horrible. Overcooked, undercooked, tasteless, etc. The only good thing about breakfast was looking out at the ocean in the beautiful dining room. Its a nice clean hotel with a couple nice bars, a club with a live band, and a nice spa, but be warned about deception. If you want a true ocean view room and relaxing time, do not come here. If you want to enjoy a spa at your leisure for no extra charge, do not come here. If you expect prompt, curteous, HONEST customer service, do not come here. If you want heat in the hallways, do not come here. We told customer service who stated that they would "get right on it", and we froze the whole time we were there. I felt like we were treated as second class citizens due to the fact that we used a choice rewards redemption, and they had to announce to everyone that "we were staying there on a "certificate". The rooms are heated, but the hallways are not. And this was in january. If none of this matters to you, then it would be a fairly decent place to stay. I recommend this place for couples, not those with children.

Am here now-wish I weren't
By Anne, 03/31/07
I've been here now about three hours and already so irritated, my first online task was to write about how awful it's been. We're actually next door, at the Marigold--which we were not told would happen. It has it's own pool, with only limited hours F/S/S, and there is a porch overlooking the ocean. If it had some really comfy chairs, that might make it more bearable. We had the same awful dining experience as many others--late, hungry kids, etc. Add also blaring loud music, a ridiculous command that children could not eat after ten, when they had eaten and we were still still still waiting for our FISH. Did they have to catch it? The room is approached off a long hallway, and the light is flashing, more off than on, which freaked all the kids. The list in the kitchen of supplies is far from off, and evidently no one knows how to tighten the knobs on drawers. Although we have a king and a pullout, there were only 3 pillows--all on the bed. Oh, and although it claims to have 3 restaurants, one is seasonal and outdoors. The other is more of a bar--filled with smoke, which we couldn't handle although the idea of the raw bar appealed. Instead we were in the formal dining, being informed the buffet was no longer available, and then they seated us, and our hungry kids right next to it. They didn't take the food away until 9:30, around the same time the kids' meals finally arrived. They came along with our cold appetizers.

Mold
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/01/07
After awaking in the middle of the first night gasping for breath and wheezing, I found that the heating/AC was full of mold and that the carpet in front of the sliding glass doors was moist. So, I requested a room change. The staff was unable to accommodate my request. (Keep in mind that this stay is in February.) They said they'd do a thorough cleaning instead. The heater/AC was not cleaned - they said they didn't have maintenance staff on duty daily in the winter - and the carpet was still moist. Due to weather I was pretty much stuck there a second night. After the second miserable night, I became really, really sick with a lung infection. Yes, I'm an asthmatic and am probably more sensitive to the mold than most. But...consider me the "warning canary." You don't want to subject yourself (and your family) to this kind of stuff.

Where am I???
By DavidP, 08/23/06
NEVER stay here. Total dump. Their recent "remodel" consisted only of changing the carpet in the rooms and re-worked the lobby. I was here for work and they messed up my reservation (didn't have one) as well as my work partner. Here's a list of things that I noticed: no battery in TV remote, room service had ants on the tray, workout room worker wouldn't let me take (3)2'x3' towels, given cocktail sauce instead of ketchup, BBQ sauce IS ketchup, wings have no sauce, "ocean view" was a parking lot, got stuck in the elevator, I said hello to employees and get no response, napkin in restaurant had big burn hole, sliding door makes banging noise all night in wind. Want to waste 100% of your money, stay here. They should be embarrased.

We'll definitely return to the Clarion!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/09/06
We just returned from 5 days at the Clarion in Ocean City, MD, July 31 to August 5th, the hottest week on record. Although we were a little disappointed in the double, double room, we will definitely return just to experience the wonderful customer service. I had read of long lines at check-in and that you couldn't get into the room before 4pm, etc. We had no such problem. We arrived at about 3:15 and were allowed to check into our room. The room was set up for 2 guests and we were a party of 3 but before we could even ask, additional towels were brought to the room. Though very clean, it is not as luxurious as the price would make you think. During the day while the maids are cleaning the rooms, there is a supervisor in the hallway who signs off on each room! I had read of slow elevator service - but it wasn't a long wait at all! Horizons restaurant is first-rate. The dinner buffet is superb and again, the service is impeccable. The Ocean Club is great - I knew someone in the band. Live music on the beach at Lenny's Beach Bar - great fun. You can rent beach equipment at reduced rates right at the beach bar & grill and the beach is private. Only 1 pool and it is indoors and heated. It was very hot outside and the pool area was stifling and extremely, uncomfortably humid. Didn't use it! I had always stayed away from Ocean City but after this past week, I will definitely go back.

we are picky and we liked it
By Kimberly G, 07/24/06
I have been to o.c a few times and so far loce the clarion. We loved the children activivties, we thought the rooms where perfect size , clean and maid service was great. The bars on the beach and entertainment was great. Bartenders serving us with drinks and lunch on the beach was a treat. The pool is clean. I didnt like the fact the juccuzzi was in the spa area so the kids couldnt enjoy. Its a 4. dollar fee for adults to use spa area ,also includes gym and eucalyptus room and maybe more cant remember. The breakfast buffee was ok , needed some waffles and the pancakes where hard but the chef whipped up eggs for you. As well as the crableg buffee , that was ok. Go to crabby alleys for crab.We liked the holiday inns breakfat buffee better. Everytone was friendly and catering. The parking is somewhat a pain. we loved the nichtclub. Alot of fun. We would stay again. Its also a dog friendly hotel and i have allergies and had no problem. They must designate certain rooms to the dog owners and certain floors. Only seen then in elevater or outdoors where they have a dog run but sometimes they would poop on the left side of parking lot so if parking over on that siode be carefull walking at night. Not a area needed to walk to go anywhere though so not bad. Easy to get to beach area . The terrace floor brings you to the pool and all the different barteps down to the ocean. We would stay again.Oh the beds are pillow top, nice.
