Cornstalk Hotel, New Orleans

liked the area. We were the only people in this place they told us free parking we looked at our bill we were charged

We stayed at the Cornstalk Fence Hotel in Nov 2006 & loved the charming ambiance, location & price. Staff was friendly and helpful from beginning to end. Other guests we met mentioned they had plumbing problems (low pressure) but our room was fine. Great location, one block from Bourbon St, two blocks from Jackson Square/French Market. It was great sitting out on the upstairs porch but be aware that you may be in many tourists' pictures - it's a popular stop for the horse & buggy tours! If you're not into cover bands/karaoke on Bourbon St, be sure to check out Flanagan's Pub, just around the corner... Delicious meals served up in generous portions, friendly staff, and great jukebox.

I love New Orleans and this is one of my favorite place to stay. It's one block from Bourban so it's quiet, but close to the action. Also, it has a great romantic story that goes with it! Darn it. I just like it.

The Cornstalk Hotel is absolutely adorable in appearance and character. It was nice to spend a hot afternoon on the porch. My only complaint was the extremely low water pressure in the bathrooms. I did seem a little overpriced given the lack of amenities.

This hotel was comfortable, charming, and in a terrific location for all tourist activities.

Our stay at the Cornstalk Hotel was terrific! A great place to spend our anniversary. In the heart of the French Quarter, within walking distance of everything we wanted to see in the Quarter. Louise was awesome, she directed us to all of tours and sites we wanted to see. We would HIGHLY recommend the Cornstalk and would stay there again if we have the opportunity!

The Cornstalk was everything we thought it was. The help was nice, the room was quaint and it was darn close to EVERYTHING the big easy has to offer in the Quarter. However, we had some problems with the reservation -- when we got to the hotel someone had thrown away our details and the hotel had been over-booked. We were nearly out of luck and without a place to stay (at 11pm! when our flight landed), but fortunately the night clerk had a last minute cancellation and we got a room. Phew. Oh, the other two things to note: 1) thin walls (you can hear the street sounds and your fellow hotel guests) 2) the "breakfast" consists of fried cornbread and coffee -- not exactly the Continental breakfast some of us are accustomed to.

Even with the complaints I mentioned, we're going to stay there again this year. It's charming and memorable.
