Olivier House Hotel, New Orleans

I gotta say this hotel really was great! P.S. if you use SweetHotelDeals. Net for booking this hotel they usually have some pretty good hotel deals at this time of the year!

It's a wonderful hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's close to everything. The rooms are very clean, and quite. It's a step back in time. Their pet friendly. My husband and I are going back in June and taking or dog. Counting down the days til we leave.

It was a quaint little place close to everything the rooms were spacious and very cleancant wait to visit again

if you want a brand new place made to look old, don't stay here. If you want a place that is truely old ...with all its charm and quirks..definitely stay here! We opted for the honeymoon suite, second floor, wrap around balcony, fireplace, jacuzzi...it was great.

As we were shown to where our room was it felt like a treaure hunt as we walked through a charming courtyard, past a neat pool, under some stairs and then up to our room, #301. When we walked in the room we felt like the luckiest people in the world. The room was so beautiful. Iron bed, antique furniture, thick beautiful curtains, brick walls on 3 sides. Then we walked out to our huge balcony and we knew we chose the best hotel. The location is perfect-1/2 block from Bourbon Street. We were able to enjoy all that Bourbon Street has to offer and then not have to worry about driving anywhere. The sitting room in the hotel is really special. Actually, everything we saw had us stumbling for new ways to say it was gorgeous. The staff were so friendly and helpful. If we return to NO again, which we hope to, we will definitely stay here again, just longer this time. We had to leave this hotel to go to our originally reserved/paid for stay at a Super 8-talk about a major let down! But we felt paying for the stay at The Olivier House Hotel, even though we already had a paid room elsewhere, was more than worth it. If you stay here you need to keep in mind that it is near Bourbon Streeet so expect some noise. We were fine with it and the music stopped at midnight. Also it is an older building so don't expect everything to be modern/perfect. Took awhile for the hot water to get there but once it did all was fine. The place is full of charm and it is beautifully maintained.

My friend and I took a "girlfriend's trip" to New Orleans at the end of May 2010 and we loved Olivier House. We were charmed by the lovely lobby and lush, quiet courtyard. This was no Marriot; instead we got charm, an old world, almost European feel and lovely, warm staff. The location is perfect for enjoying the French Quarter and the price was just right for us. I will stay there every time I visit New Orleans, which I plan to do again and again.

This hotel is full of charm. It's definitely rough around the edges-peeling wallpaper, hand rail on stairs ready to fall off, dirty, oh ! and a mouse or rat in the room eating our snacks ! and some of the staff were rude and very unhelpful. They need to put some money into renovations. Having said that, it's very fitting for the quarter and very affordable.

I have stayed at the Oliver house several times in the last couple of years and love the atmosphere and location. The building has an excellent location in the french quarter and has a very friendly and professional staff who are extremely helpful. The building itself is almost 200 years old but has recently undergone renovations and is very charming in an old world way. I would suggest this hotel to anyone.

I did not like that the person working behind the desk was all alone. I was told on the phone when I booked that my car would be taken care of for me, but that wasn't the case. The employees were rude to me. I felt as if I were bothering them when I asked a question. I was told that the pool didn't close, and then the person that was working nights told me that it was closed. Well, I went sit by it anyway--and there was a rat that I spooked off. When I told the person working behind the counter that there was a rat that ran from the pool to a large pile of broken tile in their courtyard, he said," that's New Orleans for ya. Every courtyard has rats." I've been to plenty and have never seen a rat. When the person backed out my car to get it onto the road, another person working that Sunday opened my car door and told the guy backing up my car--she told him, "the owner is right there, so watch how you back out the car." I was hapy with the hotel, but not the staff. My sister couldn't get her door to lock so she like was upset and apparently making too much noise, so the guy that was working behind the counter ran over to her and told her she better keep her voice down and then said "I'm not playing!!!" Our room was right outside of the front door, away from any other guests. She was just aggrivated that her door wouldn't lock. I don't think that the staff is professional at all.

I stayed at the oliver house a while back and loved it. After staying there again last week i thought i would write another revew. I still love it. The location and staff are great. The building is on the national historic register and due to its age, there is an occasional problem with a room but the staff more than compensated for it. I have honestly never stayed at a hotel in the US that had the same quality of old-world atmosphere that this place did. I dont understand the negitive reviews on this site but i hope that anyone who is looking for a hotel in the French Quarter will give this place a try because, it is one of the neatest hotels you'll ever come across.
