Very Nice Hotel, but ....
By John E, 12/28/09
Likes: Great staff. Great view. Very convenient location. Easy parking. Walking distance to everything. Clean rooms. Dislikes: No free internet. Parking fee is outrageous. Train runs way too close to hotel. Hotel run restaurant is awful. Overall I loved my stay here. Its my second time there and it was great again. The staff was awesome. My only complaints is with the nickel and diming that they do. Nothing is complimentary. They charge $30 a day to park and like $6/hour for internet. The train tracks are right next to the hotel so I was startled out of my sleep at 3:30 am by a train whistle. The view of the Mississippi river was amazing and the location to everything is great. We walked everywhere. If you can use a taxi I'd recommend it.

A Ghostly Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/05/09
There were ghosts in my room. The first night I thought it was a dream. The second night I thought it was from the Bloody Mary's I drank both nights. The third night I was sober and they were there. They waited until I went to sleep at night. The would hold me down and shake my bed. I could not open my eyes. I tried screaming, but couldn't. They came in my room all night long. I could hear them talking, but couldn't make out what they were saying. They were men. I was telling my 3 coworkers about it and one of them had the exact same experience. When I told the front desk I could not stay in the room another night they said that they had heard it before and they put me in a suite. Everything else about my stay was perfect.

$$ for everything
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/25/09
1. Looks quite old 2. They charge for everything. I have never been to a hotel where they charge for a wi fi connection. 3. Their restaurants don't offer a lot. 4. Definitely not worth of your money.

looking for a ghost...stay on the 23rd floor
By Cynthia, 09/07/09
the room we stayed in was haunted by a white man without a face that stood over us while we slept and moved the shower curtain while we were in the shower. I woke up the second night around 230 am cause i thought my partner was trying to wake me he was standing over me trying to speak but couldn't. freaked us out we left early.

Do NOT BOOK THIS Hotel
By John, 04/12/09
It took forever to confirm reservation. Asked for firm bed, did not get it, got a call on hotel phone at 12:20 AM for no reason at all. Room was too small and not very private (could hear conversations and activities from 3 other areas). Could not get a cup of coffee at 4:00 AM. Desk people were detached and not very helpful. Could not find local channels on TV had to call front desk for how to get them. They charge you for everything as an extra. The only thing you get in your room is a bed and you pay extra for anything else. To add insult to injury when you leave they slap you in the face with a $30.00 dollar a day parking fee to park in their dirty dingy parking garage. SCREW the Hilton, they Screw you.

No extras. You pay for everything!
By Mike, 12/17/08
If they can charge you for it they will. I paid $60 for parking. And I had to pay $5.00 to use the business center to check my email. Internet usage is $.49 a minute $5 minimum. There are better places to stay for alot less.

It was ok
By mark, 07/28/08
Small room, The view out the window was a roof. The parking was an additional $29.00 per day. You have to pay for internet service. There are better deals out there. New Orleans shoud be an experience I did not get it at the Hilton.

Great expect for the follow up
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/28/08
The location, service, food and room was great during my stay. Unfortunately, I found an error on my bill and have had a very difficult time getting it rectified. The accounting department is not very customer-service oriented.

not that great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/12/08
I spend about 30 nights a year in hotels and I usually stay at the "Hilton family" hotels. This hotel was really below usual standards for Hilton. The king bed no smoking room was quite small. The door to the room was apparently made out of cardboard, I could hear every conversation in the hallway all night long. The closet door was broken and was not fixed after I reported it. Likewise with the bathroom sink. I ordered room service the night I arrived. I ordered the grill salmon dinner, they brought me the smoked salmon breakfast. There is a Embassy Suites and a Doubletree both within walking distance of the convention center, I have stayed at both and I think they are probably a better bet.

Fun and Interesting Hotel
By Stephani, 08/14/07
Just got back from spending the weekend here. Thanks to Harrahs casino there was NO charge for the whole visit. Stayed in room 1817 and the air conditioner never seemed to get the room cold at all. Also- ran out of toilet paper and was never given any new from the housekeeping when they came to clean. Not a good moment when you have to use tissues and hope they don't run out as well! lOCATION WAS great! rIGHT ON THE mISSISSIPPI. It was so nice to watch the barges and big boats come up and down the river. Walkway right into the Riverwalk shopping wall so we did not have to walk outside to go over and shop. Took a taxi directly from the hotel to BOurbon. It was exactly $6.30 from the front of hotel to the start of Bourbon on Canal. We parked our car over at the casino for free. Right across the street. We only needed the car on the day it was time to go. The Disabled American Veterans were having their meeting there so there were alot of activities going on for them. WE ate dinner at Krabby's Sports bar in the hotel the night of the preseason LSU- BUffalo Bills game. I can see why it was voted number one sports bar in New Orleans. It was a great place with lots of tv's to watch the game! One of the elevators messed up while we were on it. It took a mind of it's own and would go to floors that no one had chose. It went all the way up and then down and up again without ever going to the florrs that were chosen. Finally everyone got off because it was a bit scary and got on another one. That was a first for me to get scared on an elevator. Location, the view, and just the beauty of the inside of the hotel are wonderful. Would def stay here again!
