Kentucky Dam Village State Par, Gilbertsville

We booked this online and were mislead by the pictures they had. We stayed in a one bedroom cottage at KY Dam Village. It looked more like a shower house from the outside of the cottage, as it was made of cement blocks. The place was out-dated but tidy. We had our 8 month old with us and her crawling on the floor, she got very dirty from the carpet and tile floors. Not sure when the last time was they steam cleaned the carpet. There were plenty of dishes and towles in the place. The resort amenities were nice but not within walking distance of the cottage. We did not eat in the restaurant while there. The stables were closed on the days we were there, even though it did not rain. No excuse was given as to why. They did have activities for the kids and the adults, which I thought were fun. Overall, the place was mediocre. If we go again, I would suggest a 2 bedroom cottage or the lodge. The two bedrooms at least look like cottages and not bath houses at a campground.

I have been at most of the parks in Kentucky and I have to admit, Ky Dam Village has to be the most beautiful one I've seen. I've been here twice and I ate mostly at the cafeteria and the service was great, the food was good. There is a really good resturant about 5 minutes away called Patti's Settlement if you want to eat offsite. Patti's Settlement is also beautiful and has lots of shopping, beautiful landscape/scenery, wedding chapel...it's just amazing. Words cannot explain it.
