Roaches and broken lock
By Kelly M, 06/29/09
We started in room 131 and roaches galore. Got moved upstairs to room 231. Found more roaches at night. Took pictures of them, and front desk wasn't helpful. Offered me $6 back. Told me the needed talk to manager who they wouldn't call. Called Days Inn customer service, and was informed in April 2009 they where suspended and not even a Days Inn now. Door lock was broken, had loose screw, had to really work with it to get it locked. Didn't leave any valuables in room at all. Comforter and blanket had cigarette burns in them. Towels dingy dirty.

Just OK
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/28/08
There were 2 girls at the front desk. One ignored me and the phone. The girl that waited on me wasn't very pleasant. The bathtub needed a good scrubbing before I felt comfortable taking a shower. Great location and price, but cleanliness and service were lacking.

A little run-down; problem with cleaning staff.
By Douglas, 07/05/06
The room itself was fine. However, I was issued no towels or wash cloths. With a little work the desk clerk was able to find me 4 small hand towels that I used to good advantage. Another bothersome problem was the extremely shabby carpet found out in the hallways. Also, "free breakfast" arrangements turned out to be awkward, and I paid for a breakfast "up-grade." The outside area appeared to be between steel mills, manufactoring facilities, and warehouses, which was not to my satisfaction. A circuitous route was followed from Interstate-64 to the front door of the motel (and at night this was mysterious).

Great Little Hotel
By Wes (& Anita), 02/25/06
We are members of a group that has regular social dances. After our usual hotel closed, we had trouble finding a suitable host in central Kentucky for our parties that met all of our criteria and was in our price range. That's when we tried the Winchester Days Inn. As soon as we checked in we were impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms and the helpfulness and courteousness of the staff. The hotel, while pretty basic otherwise, has two hidden gems: its restaurant and bar. The restaurant is top notch. If I lived in Winchester I would eat there regularly. The menu is amazingly broad for a small establishment, the salad bar is better than average and the prices are very reasonable. The staff is always friendly and the service timely. The worst thing I can say about it is that because they are small they tend to run out of sometimes basic items (i.e. the last time it was dinner rolls) over the course of a weekend. I've enjoyed my times at their bar as much as any I've visited. Once again their staff is their real strength, and being adjacent to the restaurant allows you to order high quality appetizers and even meals - not just bar food. They even have room to dance if you are so inclined which my crowd usually is. The drawback? Unless your stay is on karaoke night you had better like country music - the juke box selection is both outdated and narrow. While there are always a few locals there, I am always surprised that it isn't more popular. I can only dream that someone would open up such a nicely maintained and clean bar in my own small hometown. High speed internet access would make the hotel better for business travelers, and a bigger ballroom would suit our own needs better, but otherwise I have only praise for the establishment. My complaint? You can see their sign from the interstate and its intersecting highway, but to be blunt, if you don't know exactly how to get to their parking lot they are a little hard to find due to the way their street is layed out through the industrial type they are located behind. I can easily see the random traveler giving up before they found it.
