Great Little Hotel
We are members of a group that has regular social dances. After our usual hotel closed, we had trouble finding a suitable host in central Kentucky for our parties that met all of our criteria and was in our price range. That's when we tried the Winchester Days Inn.
As soon as we checked in we were impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms and the helpfulness and courteousness of the staff.
The hotel, while pretty basic otherwise, has two hidden gems: its restaurant and bar.
The restaurant is top notch. If I lived in Winchester I would eat there regularly. The menu is amazingly broad for a small establishment, the salad bar is better than average and the prices are very reasonable. The staff is always friendly and the service timely. The worst thing I can say about it is that because they are small they tend to run out of sometimes basic items (i.e. the last time it was dinner rolls) over the course of a weekend.
I've enjoyed my times at their bar as much as any I've visited. Once again their staff is their real strength, and being adjacent to the restaurant allows you to order high quality appetizers and even meals - not just bar food. They even have room to dance if you are so inclined which my crowd usually is. The drawback? Unless your stay is on karaoke night you had better like country music - the juke box selection is both outdated and narrow. While there are always a few locals there, I am always surprised that it isn't more popular. I can only dream that someone would open up such a nicely maintained and clean bar in my own small hometown.
High speed internet access would make the hotel better for business travelers, and a bigger ballroom would suit our own needs better, but otherwise I have only praise for the establishment.
My complaint? You can see their sign from the interstate and its intersecting highway, but to be blunt, if you don't know exactly how to get to their parking lot they are a little hard to find due to the way their street is layed out through the industrial type they are located behind. I can easily see the random traveler giving up before they found it.
