Best Western Steeplegate Inn, Davenport

We had several rooms with our group of friends....each room had a lovely "surprise". One room had stains on the comforter, one had urine on the toilet seat, one had dirty sheets in one of the beds...food was old and cold. Waste of time and money....never again.

It's 6:05am as I type my review from the room using the free wireless internet they provide. As we arrived Friday evening we were greeted warmly as we entered. Quickly we were given our room, which was right outside the pool actually. We decided to go swimming right away and it was great. The water was 94 degrees. Was like bath water. A short while later we had to try the spa as well. 10 minutes of that was definately enough. WoW! Hot water! Heading to the bar (happy hour was over at 7) we had to get a couple drinks. Service was fine but the music at 7pm was a little too loud I think. Around 8pm we headed to the restaurant. Had the fish fry and, like the other reviews here, it was very good. Heading back to the room after dinner, got another quick swim before it closed at 10 (which I think might have been to early for a Friday night) The place was quite busy now. Many people at the pool and seating area around the pool area. The room was clean. Microwave, fridge and everything you would come to expect from a nice hotel. Was a nice staycation so far. We're heading to the breakfast buffet here shortly. Got free breakfast coupons when we checked in so, can't let those go to waste can we? I would definately recommend the Steeplegate and would definately come again.

We stayed for one night for Valentines Day. The staff were very friendly and even upgraded our room with no extra price. The room was very clean and spacious with a big queen size bed. It was also very peaceful and quiet when we stayed. The fish fry was excellent on Friday night and the breakfast was wonderful. I want to stay again. The only problem was that the pool was too cold, otherwise the best place in Davenport to stay.

From check in too check out, this is a great place to stay. All of the staff, front desk, restaurant, bar and housekeeping, make you feel welcome and wanted. This is a super place to stay.. You just must try the "All U Can Eat' Fish Dinner on Friday's. My Group have met there for the pass 5 years and we would even consider staying anywhere else. This is a great place for everyone, families, couples and singles. I would never consider staying anywhere else in that area rather I'm traveling for business or pleasure.. Peace & Blessings RH

Been coming to this hotel for years. Service is excellent, rooms are immaculate, front desk personnel most accomodating. Shuttle to MLI is always fast. Driver is friendly and in the know about area sights. The on-site restaurant has the best food in Iowa. Breakfast buffet is great! Coffee is the greatest!

Major problem: even the "non-smoking" rooms reeked of smoke because there were non smoking rooms on the same level as smoking. We had an incident in the atrium (lovely place to mingle with family) because a group of smokers, who claimed that "they came here every year" (so I suppose that means they felt they had some sort of rights), refused to extinguish their smokes when asked politely and made it unbearable for some of our family members (we were gathering for a 65th wedding anniversary) to enjoy themselves. I would not go back to this place with their existing smoking policy...and hence the "cleanliness" rating.

RESTFUL SLEEP, WONDERFUL CARING STAFF, I WAS "TAKEN CARE OF" FOR A WEEKEND, THERE WAS NOT A SINGLE COMPLAINT FROM OUR ENTIRE FAMILY REUNION GROUP

After 7 nights, its time to look elsewhere. Room decor is dated. lighting is dark throughout the property. Housekeeping is spotty. Nice happy hour 5-7 but they use their own time. I was there at 6:50pm they said it was 7:10 hence no more happy hour discounts. Breakfast is OK but inconsistent, fresh fruit one day, rotten bananas the next. Good luck finding a clean table if its busy. Many Best Westerns have upgraded decor and furnishings. Not this place though.
