won't stay here again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/05/09
We have stayed here several times in the past. Our daughter is in school in Des Moines. On a recent trip to stay the night and shop with my daughters, my knee became locked, spent the day in the ER. The recommendation was I go home and see a surgeon. I understand cancellation policies, but they were not very understanding. I paid for a room I didn't use. We thought of ourselves as loyal customers, I guess there is no such thing. We are returning for that shopping spree, but I will stay somewhere else.

Wonderful Hotel

The hotel staff was wonderful, the price was right and better yet, parking was free. I love how it was close to downtown, near everything. Very nice!

Needs cleaned
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/08/08
I stayed in this hotel just last night. The check in desk people were very very friendly. The decor of the place was lovely. The elevators were dirty. Smudged doors and walls. There was a stuffy odor to the halls and room. Cheaper, less fancy hotels I have stayed in smelled so much fresher. The front of the bathroom sink fixture looked stained. I dampened a tissue and wiped at it, and it came right off. It looked like coffee. The mess was just below where the coffee pot sat on the sink. So the cleaning staff had not even wiped the front of that sink, in how long? The lampshades and tops of the lamps were THICK with dust. Uncleaned in a long time. The chair and footstool in the room looked filthy. There were stains on them. We didn't sit in, nor sat anything on them. The mattress felt worn out. Soft, flimsy, you could feel the inner springs on your body. The room had not been properly vacuumed in quite awhile. The carpet in the center of the room was clean. but right before leaving. dropped something that rolled under the bed. I lifted the bedspread and to my horror, you could tell it had not been swept under there in awhile. The dust bunnies were large. There was beer bottle caps under there. And a quarter! Since it was daylight now (I checked in after dark) I looked behind the dirty chair and in the corners of the room and wished I had not looked. There were crumbs and other things not cleaned up there, and I had not made the mess. Shower, shower curtain, toilet, and sheets were clean and fresh. The pillows were very soft and springy. But the bathroom floor was sticky. I was glad I took house slippers. The free breakfast was very nice. Waffles were superb. Morning staff in kitchen was friendly and nice. The dining room floor was sticky. You could hear your shoes peel off of it. It had a pool, nice view, and more I am sure that I didn't see. I didn't stay there for the perks, only for a bed and rest. Where I stay, I don't expect bells and whistles, I want a good nights sleep. I didn't get it in this bed. The room was quiet. But I sure do expect to not be subjected to the dirt and food crumbs left behind by former patrons. They need a new cleaning staff.

So much for a good nights sleep
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/27/07
We stayed at this hotel because I have always like Quality Inn. However, this one doesn't rate in the good category. We were there because we had family having surgery at the nearby hospital, however to our misfortune it was also the state basketball tournement. We were keep away all night by screaming kids, and the only reply in the morning was, oh, it is state tournement time. Well, thanks for caring. Breakfast-- not the best. Overall, I will a different Quality Inn to stay at.

Worth the money

This location is excellent for events being held at the new convention center and easy access to the freeway system. Good value for your money.
