Do not trust the staff or the valets.
By ,
While overall a decent property, the incident I had with this hotel has been like none other in my history of travel. I recently stayed at the Hotel Monaco for five nights, checking out on Monday, March 19th. Shortly after leaving the hotel and retrieving my car from the valet, my partner and I noticed a large scrape on the bumper of the car that wasn’t present upon checking in. We had not requested use of the car for the duration of our stay. I called the hotel approximately two hours after checking out and was directed to speak with the garage manager at Park One (their valet company) who stated that he would review video of the car and call me back within 48 hours to verify that the car was unblemished upon arrival, and was scraped upon departure from the garage. The garage manager didn't call back until I had an email exchange with the general manager of the hotel. When he finally got back to me, the garage manager stated that he would file an "incident report" and claim with his insurance company, Travelers, which would eventually deny the claim because garage staff wouldn't admit fault or liability, nor did they supply the video they stated they had of the car entering or exiting the garage, which could have verified that the damage wasn't present upon check-in, but was at check-out. Their insurance representative even told me that the garage does not have surveillance at that location, contradicting the garage manager. In the end, this Kimpton InTouch guest got stuck with a $1,000 bill for parking at this Kimpton property: an almost $500 paint scrape on top of a $48/per day parking fee, rental car expenses, several hours of lost time in dealing with the issue, and one gigantic headache. In the end, do NOT trust the valets or staff at this hotel, and take your business elsewhere if at all possible.

Wonderful!
By ,
The Hotel Monaco was in an amazingly convenient location and provided a quaint atmosphere in the heart of downtown Chicago. The rooms were very clean and the beds - SO comfortable! The free coffee and wine receptions were a great way to start off the day or evening. Our bellhop, Mark, as well as the rest of the staff, were incredibly friendly and informative. I would definitely stay here again!

we can't wait to go back
By ,
this hotel had so much character! From the moment i stepped in the door i was overwhelmed by the cleanliness, character, friendliness of the staff, and the amazing service! There is no one single thing that I love about this hotel that is how much I love it! Oh, and by the way, the beds are soooo comfortable you will not want to get out of bed in the morning. I will most definately goback in heartbeat.

A really perfect stay
By ,
Nothing was too hard or too much at the Hotel Monaco in Chicago. My husband and I are from Australia and we had been travelling all over the US. We arrived at 9 in the morning and they were happy to do there best and find us a room to check into early- which they did. The room was lovely and very clean. We had things to send home and the concierge did this with a smile and don’t even expect a tip. The restaurant downstairs served delicious blueberry pancakes or a full hot breakfast and the whole experience left us wishing we were staying in Chicago longer- a very genuine recommendation from two well travelled Aussies.

Booked for company
By ,
I work for a company who went to a show in Chicago this fall. I booked about 40 rooms over a 2 week spread and I can tell you this is an excellent hotel. My salesman travel all over the world and I have never heard some great comments when they returned today. They said the hotel was quiet, clean, excellent service. The restaurant had great service and food. I know the price is a little high but it was well worth it.

going back in October
By ,
The suites with whirlpool soaking tubs are gorgeous. Superb staff, location near Millenium Park and House of Blues. Wouldn't stay at any Hotel other than one of the Kimptons. I'll be at the Burnham at the end of this month, and back to the Monaco in October. I know that there are other nice hotels in Chicago, but I love these 2 in particular.

Great Service and Decor
By ,
Terrific place to stay. Good location and wonderful service. Supply funky robes, an umbrella if you need it, well supplied snacks and bar in the room. Turn down service, chocolates.

A Fabulous Experience
By ,
This is a great hotel across the board. Great service, comfortable, well designed rooms, and the perfect location. Don't miss the wine and cheese hour in the late afternoon (or the fresh baked cookies at the front desk).
