Great Location
By ,
The hotel is in excellent location. Short walk to millineum park. There are several restaurants and shops nearby. We had and excellent experience although valet parking is a little expensive.

Do Not Recommend

The Palmer House has a beautiful lobby with a great bar and restaurant. The rooms are way too small!!! Two people in a room with a King size bed can barely move around. Not enough room for two suitcases. Our room was very outdated-reminded us of the movie The Shining. VERY NOISY!!!! Don't expect a quiet stay. You can hear EVERYTHING that your neighbors are doing and saying not to mention everything that is happening in the hallways. We requested a room change as soon as we checked in. The room that we originally were in had a huge square cut out of the wall that had exposed pipes, bricks, dirt and dust. Oh and the construction for their renovations starts at 7 a.m. during the week. We will never stay at the Palmer House again. You are better off spending a few more dollars at a different hotel.

A lovely place in a great area
By ,
We loved staying at this hotel, it was quiet, clean and very comfortable. The room was a bit small, but it didn't matter as it was cozy and had all the amenities. The hotel is in a central location, with so much to do, it was quite easy to find our way through the city. The lobby is total elegance, we enjoyed cocktails in the lobby a couple of times,it is very much a meeting place for business and for socializing. We didn't have dinner at the hotel, which looked lovely but pricey. There are several good and reasonably priced restaurants within a block or two. I would stay there again and recommend it to anyone. We had a wonderful time in Chicago!

Great Hotel
By ,
We went for a weekend get away and stayed here. We are a young couple and loved this hotel. Its older but quite beautiful. We had a wonderful time. Got our rooms on priceline which we were worried about getting stuck with two doubles but we ended up with the king room. Staff was great - was a really fun trip! Will stay here again.

Never again!
By ,
I visted Chicago this past weekend and had always wanted to stay the the palmerhouse because of the name. Wow, that name means nothing to me now. We were in a hurry to get out for a late dinner and it took the bellstaff over 30min to deliver our luggage. We stayed in one of the rooms that were renivated, lots of constuction going on. I don't know who the decorator is but it must be bobby trendy from the anna nicole show or someone who is color blind. Our room did not have a room service menu, a no service sign for the door, and had a 2nd bathroom door in our room that was locked. The entire hotel staff were just slow with the exception of the dinning room staff in the morning they were all great. Do not stay here, this place is just odd.

Would go back everytime in Chicago
By ,
Ther service was great. I was there for a convention and was not familiar with the town. All staff was very helpful in suggesting restaurants and places to go. The hotel is beautiful and full of character. Location is a little sketchy but it is very close to major areas. I would definitely go back when in Chicago again.

Sleeping on cots
By ,
We booked a two double bed room 6 months ahead of time, because we were running in the Chicago Marathon. The location was great! However, when we arrived our service was the worst any of us had ever experienced. The woman at the front desk told us that they had given away our room because we had not "confirmed it". After about 30mins of going back and forth, they gave us a one queen bed room. Well, considering that there were 4 of us who had to get up very early to run in the morning... we were not happy! We reluctantly went up to our room, hoping that there might be a pull out sofa or something. Nope. Nothing. We then called and spoke with the Manager. He said that we had confirmed our reseveration, as we had previously said, but they overbooked and there was nothing that they could do. They did however give us two cots, which hardy fit in the room. We couldn't get to the bathroom without stepping on them. However, the manager was nice enough to tell us that we didn't have to pay for them, but could not comp us anything for the room. We called three times for towels and by 10pm, we still hadn't received any, or any extra pillows. So that's how we spent the night, sleeping on cots, while we had paid for beds, we would have been better off booking at the Travel Lodge... at least we would have slept in a bed the night before the race!! Those ended up being some very expensive cots!!
