Sleeping on cots
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/3/07
We booked a two double bed room 6 months ahead of time, because we were running in the Chicago Marathon. The location was great! However, when we arrived our service was the worst any of us had ever experienced. The woman at the front desk told us that they had given away our room because we had not "confirmed it". After about 30mins of going back and forth, they gave us a one queen bed room. Well, considering that there were 4 of us who had to get up very early to run in the morning... we were not happy!
We reluctantly went up to our room, hoping that there might be a pull out sofa or something. Nope. Nothing.
We then called and spoke with the Manager. He said that we had confirmed our reseveration, as we had previously said, but they overbooked and there was nothing that they could do. They did however give us two cots, which hardy fit in the room. We couldn't get to the bathroom without stepping on them. However, the manager was nice enough to tell us that we didn't have to pay for them, but could not comp us anything for the room. We called three times for towels and by 10pm, we still hadn't received any, or any extra pillows. So that's how we spent the night, sleeping on cots, while we had paid for beds, we would have been better off booking at the Travel Lodge... at least we would have slept in a bed the night before the race!! Those ended up being some very expensive cots!!
