Rude, disorganized, unaccomidating....
Well this was our second time staying here. The first time we stayed because we were going to spend time in Chicago and this place was cheaper than the pricey Chicago hotels of course. It actually turned out to be a bummer the first time also because we had gone for the excitement of Chicogo since they had told us and reasurred us that they shuttle you to the L train which turned out to not be true when we got there. That or they just didn't wanted to take us, not sure. But whatever, we drove in, which sucked. But we ended up liking the peacefulness of the resort, the view from the big glass windows of the golf course and we wanted to try the spa so we went back a year later for our 4 year ann. and made a weekend of it. We booked everthing online and made a package which included couples massage, champange, breakfast for 2, spa basket and had requested a golf course view and was assured they would be able to accomidate that. Booked the massage myself so that was fine but right when we walked in we got dirty looks because they had to stop their conversations, then they checked us in and said our card was declined, we were like umm no and asked her to try it again and she said no, it wont work you have to give me a different card. Well we knew our card was fine so we just looked at her and said firmly please try it again. Then we watched her and it went through fine, no problem. She was just a rude little thing about it. Then we get up to the room and we had a dreadful view of the parking lot. (dont even stay there for that view, its terrible, the best part is the view of the golf course) so not very happy we dragged our luggage back down and told them the problem and she said well I can give you that view but we'll have to charge you extra. I said no we were never told that during booking and we booked golf course view, she wouldnt do anything about it until a supervisor looked over and seen us just looking at each other, me in disgust and asked what was wrong, I told him and he told the girl to give us the room we reserved. OK, so back up to the room, no mention and no sign of our champainge, spa basket, breakfast coupon. I called down and they didn't know what I was talking about! sent me through to the kitchen and everyone else in the hotel. Then they found out that we had ordered them but didnt know how to get them so they said they would bring us coupons! Im like, we dont want coupons, (except for the breakfast) we want our stuff. So finally after about 2 hours, (and we went during a slow time) they brought us a bottle of champange and coupons for breakfast and our spa basket that i finally found out after I called the spa that I pick it up there after our massages the next day, which wern't very good. Very light little massage that did nothing for either of us and the other reviewer is right about the tranquil room we starred at a bunch of big, loud women for about 1 min. and left. The pool was cold both times we were there, they dont heat it very well which isn't very nice when you walk over in the freezing cold from the hotel. Oh yeah by the way the spa and pool are not connected. You have to walk about 100 feet from the hotel, which sucks in the winter. BUT the worst part about this beautiful hotel is the terrible staff that we even gave the benefit of doubt the frist time and was WAY more horrid the second time and when it really mattered. Dont go there to plan a special weekend. You'll be dissappointed.
