Stay here if you enjoy lies and deceit!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/23/10
First a disclaimer. I did not actually stay at this facility. My review relates solely to the fraud committed against me by the hotel's management over a cancelled reservation. If it were possible to give this property a "zero" rating, I would. The facts are as follows: On September 12th a reservation was made on my behalf through Expedia for a one-night stay at this hotel on September 14th. On September 13th I no longer needed the reservation so I called the hotel to cancel it (I subsequently learned I should have contacted Expedia, but that is beside the point and not relavent to my complaint). The staff accepted the cancellation over the phone. A week later, a charge appeared on my credit card from Expedia. Expedia agreed to remove the charge if the hotel would confirm that I had cancelled my reservation. However, the hotel denies - even in the face of my AT&T cell phone records that indicate otherwise - that I even called the hotel. The hotel staff member I spoke with about this charge, who indicated she was the manager, was extremely rude and refused to provide me with her name nor with the name of the hotel owner (which I subsequently obtained from Wyndham Hotels, which owns the Ramada chain and is aware of the situation as is the Better Business Bureau). At one point, when I was becoming frustrated on the phone with the alleged manager, she cautioned me that all phone calls were recorded. That was great news, I said, because then they'd have a recording of my cancellation call. Then I was told it was NOT true and that phone calls to the hotel are NOT recorded. (Another lie, I suppose.) I have sent a letter to the owner of the hotel and am awaiting his response. I also understand that Wyndham has contacted the hotel regarding this matter as well, but the owner and management has yet to respond to me and he/they probably won't. If I do receive a response, I look forward to seeing what sort of light they put on this. All I'm asking for is honesty. Of course, had I read the terrible reviews of this property earlier, I never would have made the original reservation. Hopefully this review will help dissuade at least 10 people from staying at the Ramada O'Hare. By doing so, I will have cost the hotel at least 10 times what they cost me.

Not worth the stay
By Tra, 3/28/10
This place was pretty bad. Shuttle was a joke and felt like we were going to crash at any time. Room had heat on full blast and would not control. Had to open windows in room in middle of feb to cool room down. had to open and close all night to regulate temp. Place was a dump. Do not expect anything even close to reasonable if you stay here.

Simply loved it
By Jeannie, 2/17/10
When we got to the hotel, we were greeted by a wonderful front desk staff. The rooms were very nice and warm, and smelled very good. The Atrium was very nice with a tropical theme. I had a couple of questions on where to take my children sight seeing, and they were more than helpful to print me out maps and to even get me over to public transportation. I love this hotel and I recommend it to everyone. Thank you very much Ramada Ohare

Horror hotel
By JivanS, 1/5/10
I don't think I can say anything nice about this place. I got this place since I got stranded in Chicago O'Hare. Right from the start, the hotel shuttle looked like it's a gang van and the hotel is like the one you see in horror movies. The smell of strong chlorine with ran down ambiance. Seriously!!! Vendor ate my money and service doesn't even want to return my money and ask that I call the vendor owners. Wouldn't it make sense for them to reimburse me (as service) and get my money back from the vendor operator???? This place sucks!!!!

Bacon & Cashews?
By mila_cm, 4/9/08
April 2008 We were stuck in the American Airlines MD80 safety fiasco. American Airlines gave us vouchers for this hotel. The young lady running the front desk was swamped with customers and did an excellant job getting us all in rooms quickly. The Hotel staff did the best they could with little notice. We had a 20 passenger van the next morning to shuttle us back to the airport starting at 5am. This hotel is shabby and not very clean. There was a piece of bacon and a cashew nut on the rug when we checked in. The towels are old and kind of thin. But hey, it was a bed and bath after a long ordeal.

Oh My God!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/24/08
We got in real late at the end of a park-and-fly week coming out of O'Hare from Spring Break. I found out the shuttle doesn't run past 10:30, and asked them to call a cab 3 times. I finally tackled a cab and paid $50 to get a ride to the hotel (which it is now 4 a.m.). They had my car there for 1 week and I had pre-paid for a non-smoking room, but they gave me a smoking room that smelled like mold. My wife and I were afraid to touch the sheets so we slept in our clothes on top of the bed. I swear I could hear things crawling on the floor. I asked to be put in a quiet corner so I could get some sleep before they kicked us out at 12, but at 7:45 we had 15 screaming kids outside our door as I found out they were nice enough to put me directly next to the pool. I couldn't take it anymore so I got up to drive home in the same clothes as the shower was equally as disgusting. I brushed my teeth in the parking lot. The attendant I found out was the shuttle driver that I wanted 5 hours earlier, and after 20 minutes the "clerk" showed up to check me and 3 other disgruntled customers out. I let them go 1st so I could get some consideration from the clerk, but she couldn't do anything as the Manager wasn't there, but would be in later that afternoon so I left my cell #. She didn't call so I called at 4 and was told she didn't come in but would be back the next morning. No call then so at 3 the next day I called to find out she was on vacation all week, but now the owner had been contacted and there was nothing they could do. I don't like to bash (this is my 1st review actually) but word of mouth is the best advertising, and I would RUN!!

Nice Place!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/17/08
Lots of changes taking place here. I saw the pictures on this site and was surprised to see that they remodeled! It looks great. The have done the rooms and lobby area so far. Front desk was very helpful, especially Jeannie and Bob. The drivers were nice and efficient shuttle to the airport made it easy to catch the subway. AAAAAA++++++++++++++++++++++

A new favorite!
By Layla, 6/23/07
I have stayed at this location before and found it to be ok... BUT durring a recent visit to the area I ended up back at this location and came to find out they had remodeled. You walk in the lobby and you feel like you are walking into a Hilton. Granite floors and counters and the most comfortable leather sofas!! The rooms were great too. I stayed on the new "Executive Floor" I walked in to find a california king bed and one of those awesome leather sofas! I can't get over that bed though, it was so luxurious. The staff was great, I was told the hotel is under new management (you can really tell)... A+ in my book. I am sure I will be back!!

All Hotels Can Learn from Chicago West
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/1/07
Wow, what a wonderful experience! Starting from when we first checked in to our checking out, the experience was outstanding. The pool, the room, the staff everything perfect. My First time in Chicago, the young ladies at the front desk all had suggestions of where to go, how to get there, where to eat. This hotel left you wanting to come back and we will.
