Rude Staff at front desk!
By Kathleen Lavery, 1/5/09
I have been coming to the Schaumburg Marriott since 1986. The rooms are most comfortable , the beds are heavenly. However, the front desk staff is rude and clueless. I always pay cash when I check in as to not incur any credit card debt. When I do so, the staff looks at me as though I am from another planet. They start rushing around in the back room and whispering to each other like I am the lowest of the low. Check out is even worse when they have to refund my deposit which incidently is 100.00. Outrageous! In this economy I believe you will see more and more people using cash for their purchases and bookings in the near future and I think that the staff should treat people paying with cash no different than they treat those using credit cards. Also, when I was telling them I had booked a room with breakfast, i.e. the menu I have been filling out in the room for years. The lady ( her name was Taylor) had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. She called room service to see if they could make an exception and bring breakfast to the room! I was dumbfounded. I explained to her that their is a breakfast menu in the room and I always fill it out. She did not know what I was talking about. How embarrassing it is to stand there with people behind you trying to check in and these goofs don't know what they are doing. I am seriously reconsidering another hotel because the problem has been ongoing and I like to be treated with respect not disdain when I am paying good money to stay at a place. I feel I've been disrespected too many times and I am not going to tolerate it any longer. Kathleen Thews

Terrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/17/08
The hotel had just been redecorated and Marriott is usually our favorite hotel, so we gave it a try. It was terrible. The hotel looked okay at best. The staff was the worst we have encountered while traveling. When we checked in, we were told their shuttle would take us to the nearby mall the next day. When we wanted to leave, we went to the desk and THE SAME PERSON who checked us in told us that there were only scheduled times to the mall and that it wouldn't be going again for hours. Why didn't he tell us there was a set schedule when we checked in?? We wanted to mention this to a manager, but it turned out he was the DIRECTOR of the hotel!!! The bellman was very nice though, and saw that we were upset and got us a taxi. The rooms were very noisy with nothing to muffle sounds through the walls. The bathroom was way too small for even one person to stand in and close the door. The rooms were really small too. The hallways were dark and looked old. We will never go back to this hotel.

Not Good Sleeping
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/28/08
Beds were uncomfortable. They dipped in the middle, were really soft, and even my six year old tossed and turned all night. Get some new mattresses. Our friends room also had well over used beds. Try extending your hours on a one nite stay. Depending who you talk to.....you may have till 1 with no extra charge, 2 or 3 with no extra charge. Show them your billing statement that gets tossed under the door and you can have until 3:00 like they have printed on the billing statement. Our friends were asked to pay after 1:00 until they looked at the statement. Hard location to get to...
