Needs major over-haul
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/10/08
The staff is really trying, but, the paint is peeling off the walls in the sleeping rooms. Everything is outdated, and really needs to be totally overhauled! Anyone can come in any hour of the night or morning as the doors going outside from all wings of the hotel do not lock! The lobby is very nice and remodeled, but the rest Needs major cleaning and remodeling. Was a nice hotel in its day, I'm sure of that, but not now. The rates are low for a reason. You get what you pay for. Eggs were cold for the breakfast and ran out of food.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/15/07

Worst hotel I have ever been to!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/15/07
I would have given this hotel a "no star" rating if available! The hotel staff is rude and unaccomodating. The rooms are dirty and disgusting. The pool is a joke and the decor is circa 1970. We will never stay here again even after they offered free stay vouchers. The hotel management is the most incompetent group of people I have ever met. Trying to get a hold of a manager is virtually impossible. And don't try to complain to their Choice hotel corporate offices, because they are a franchise hotel, so there is nothing corporate can do. This hotel is a complete waste of money. STAY AWAY!!!!

mold ugh
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/10/07
there was mold in the shower. in the middle of the night we were awaken by the music coming from the lounge. It was the sound like you from a teen's car bass going down the street. The next morning the manager said well there was a sign about a dance contest( we don't think it should have been this loud}. She took 7 dollars off of the bill. We went to to the Hampton Inn for the rest of the stay, and was very comfortable there. Upon further complaint to main company, the motel took another 10 off bill. We have stayed with this chain on almost all of our vacations and this the first time we were unsatisfied. We picked this motel chain for its integrety for the past 10 years sherry

No elevator.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/15/06
I stayed a week at the Bloominton, Illinois Clarion for business and arrived on a weekend afternoon. I called the hotel for pick up from the airport and was told there was no transportation shuttle to pick me up from the airport. I was given a room on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator. There was no employee to help me drag my heavy luggage up a flight of stairs. There was also a huge yellow stain on the ceiling and flies in my room.

mold mold mold
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/29/06
Was invited to a birthday party. The carpet in the party room was wet from a recent rain. The ceiling tiles were wet with mold growing on them. No door knob on the bathroom door~ the whole was there and you could see right in, no soap or hand towels in the bathroom, no garbage can in the room at all. When a complaint was made the staff at the front desk said that no manager was on duty and gave us a business card to call back after the weekend. However, the were kind enough to give us a trash bag for the garbage. What a joke. I will never consider that hotel again.

Could Be Worse!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/07/06
What i didn't like is housekeeping.. We reserved 2 rooms for 4 days.. I had to keep running up to the desk for toilet paper.. When you check in there is half a roll and they give no extra ever... None of the day's we were there was there a new roll of toilet paper.. There are contractor's sleeping in hallways through out the hotel and in room's under construction with no door's.. 5 out of 50 worker's don't even speak english..I stayed again in the newly remodeled room and it wasn't any better looking paint Dried paint on headboards of bed and side table's..I guess that tell's me how well they clean!

still renovating after 3 years!
By KimC, 04/23/06
The hotel is still undergoing renovation, so be prepared to be awoken early because no one let me know at check-in. The quality of the rooms are not worth the price. The service was not up to par either, with one receptionist talking to a friend on the phone while I waited to be helped. I wouldn't call the hotel awful, but very poor.

Sleeping in a Dumpster would be better than this.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/14/06
Whoever gave this pigsty 5 stars must have forgotten to take his or her meds that day. It is simply the most unsanitary, cock roach infested, dirty, filthy, grimy, dump of a place that has ever existed. You are better off pitching a tent in the front lawn rather than staying at this biohazard. This hotel is the armpit of Bloomington. Anyone who reads this....stay away!!!!!

Very poor customer service
By montecarla, 02/04/06
Stayed here for a business conference. 1st night came in after meeting and was locked out of back entrances, had to walk in down pour rain in business suit to the front entrance. When I arrived to reception desk I told her my key didn't work and I was exstremly upset, her response was " I'm pissed off too why don't you go tell someone who cares." I responded to her that she was very rude and I was unsatisfied with the way I was being treated. I asked for her name, she spelled it out for me. J-O-N-N-I. She gave me new keys and I left to the room. Every morning I woke up to get ready, the water was cold to shower. The next night I got in from my meeting I was locked out again!
