Gloomy room with ancient cable TV.
By Richard, 8/16/12
I liked the fact that kids eat breakfast free and that they did not penalize me for checking out after our first night there. I did not like the fuzzy 90's era cable TV and the ancient CRT television. I did not like getting a noise complaint from the front desk while I was asleep and my son was watching TV at the lowest volume possible to still hear the program. I did not like the dark, gloomy room. I did not like seeing the building main entrance security door wedged open by a water bottle in the morning when I went out to get something from my van. I did not like the wifi signal so weak that my laptop could not connect to the internet. I did not like the fitness room that's seems about as big as one of their hotel rooms with a few machines in it and no windows.

Don't go for the breakfast!!!
By hey you!, 4/5/10
I loved the location, The place was WAY overpriced for a moderate Hotel. The Breakfast was Extremely disappointing, and the when I check in for another stay they wouldn't give me the same rate I had from the previous Two days, which was still too much... I would recommend GW Hunters for breakfast or steak, and the White House for Dinner, which are both located less than a mile from the Hotel and are across the street from each other.

Beware Smokers
By realman, 2/16/10
You might as well litter the place with cigerettes cause if you pick up your butts and dispose of them in your room garbage they assume you smoked in the room and charge 265 on credit card..We smoked out back and didn't want to leave butts out there..We had other people meet us there for dinner brought atleast 300 dollars worth of buisness your way..Not again I will book all rooms personal and buisness through other hotels and tell friends and coliges the same..Your 265 dollar mistake will cost red lion 1000s in future revenue..Maybe I don't know look for ashes or smell for smoke dont punish people for trying to keep your place clean....

Very Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/20/07
We arrived to a clean room with a river view. We had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent service and food! The following day we went to Silverwood and came home to find out room door not shut all the way! Further more, housekeeping didn't leave clean cups, new coffee, empty the trash etc. I called the front desk to only receive an 'oh dear' from the desk clerk because the mng. wasn't availble..but promised me she would call. She never did. The following day housekeeping did an even poorer job (didn't think it was possible). When we went to check out our bill was 270.00 more than what we were quoted plus there were phone charges on there that we hadn't made. The desk clerk made me feel as though she was doing me some great favor by removing those charges that weren't mine in the first place! Very noisy hotel in the mornings with doors slamming and housekeeping knocking on your door at 8:30 asking for dirty towels. Although the location was good, the restaurant was excellent, the pool was fair, I will NEVER stay here again!

Don't eat there!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/8/07
Nothing to complain about the room. However we experienced THE WORST service I've ever encountered in any restaurant anywhere anytime. The prime rib was not as ordered, and I mentioned it. Later found the potatoe and vegatable to be luke cold. My wife's chicken dish was very bland and my daughters pasta dish looked like it had watered down tomatoe juice for a sauce. Waited to complain but our waitress was nowhere in sight. No water, no service, nothing. Finally had to track down the hostess to pay our bill as we got tired of waiting. When I complained again to the hostess all I got was a "gee I'm sorry". We all agreed this is a place not to go back to. Spend your money somewhere else.

Dog's \"IN\" the hotel????
By GSK, 9/20/06
I have never heard of a "Quality" hotel with $200 a night rooms allowing people to check in with big dogs in their room. We arrived and checked in and found out the hotel was hosting a big dog show. We were not informed about this when we booked. Not only were they hosting the dog show but they were allowing the dogs in the rooms. We got out of the elevator and ran right into two big dogs (their room was two doors down from us) and my wife asked if they barked at night. The reply was yes, sometimes but if they do just complain! That was enough, we didn't even unpack as I'm not paying $200 a night in a hotel full of dogs!!! The worst thing was that if I wouldn't have asked, they would have not said anything at the front desk! Boat or no boat, we'll not book there again!

Wouldn't Stay There Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/26/05
I booked this hotel based on the pictures on the internet - it looked like a beautiful setting. We arrived on a Monday, and it was obvious the hotel was not at all full, since the parking lot was empty. We were put in room 261, off to the side, away from the Spokane River, with a lovely parking lot view. But the next morning even our parking lot view disappeared as they were painting the building, and covered our window! I would think that a hotel chain would want to give you the best room available, versus their worst room, in order to make a good first impression, but apparently not. When I mentioned this at the front desk when we checked out, all she could say was "Oh, I'm sorry, you need to request", or obviously they will put you in the least desirable room/location that they have. We will not stay there again as there are many nice hotels in Northern Idaho, and I bet they don't all use this approach.

NOT BAD!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/9/05
Service is very good, room is comfortable. The building and furnishing are a bit old but considering the good price and great location the deal is not bad at all; really enjoyed the four nights stay there!

They've cleaned up their act...........
By grannynanny, 8/5/05
We had booked our reservations before we found some really bad reviews on the Red Lion. It was too late to change so we held our breath and took a chance. First, it's obvious that RL is in the process of putting this property back in 1st class condition. Our room was clean, the bathroom had all new fixtures and the bed was superb - as good as our bed at home. The outside of the property needs more attention, especially the river side; the pool/jacuzzi probably needs the most attention - not unusable but not up to par either. There is however a small but nicely equipped workout room and sauna.
