Royal Motor Inn of Moscow, Moscow

Terrible traffic noise on 2 busy streets. People outside late at night puking and screaming. The worst thing were the tie dyed sheets..if you need to stay here keep your shoes on and sleep in your hazard suit.. it was really bad. Not a fan AT ALL!

GOOD: Location is great, right downtown. Price is also good, unless it's graduation weekend or something and they bump it up. BAD: Wow, what a rude woman manning the front desk. At first I thought she was hard of hearing when she failed to respond, but soon it became apparent she was ignoring me. If you stay here watch for the short, gray-haired woman who looks vaguely witch-like and guard your children lest they become ingredients in her next brew.

Visit often. Friendly staff. Older motel. Dated furnishing, yet, fairly clean. No bed bugs ever detected (unlike the Waldorf Astoria).

Yes the Royal is a little dated but has a friendly staff and best of all a great location. I got there every year. Just booked my room for this year. Love the Royal. Go Vandals!

One of the worst motels I have stayed in in all my years of travel. To mention two details: the bathtub was dirty and contained a used bar of soap from a previous guest; and someone had urinated in a wastebasket in the room and the housekeeper had done nothing about it.

It was quiet, but room was very outdated and smelly. I had to buy an air freshener to be able to sleep. Reception was not too welcoming. It was conveniently located though, but I won't stay in it again and will not recommend to anyone.

I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. The only great experience about the RMI is its location. The sheets and pillow cases were stained so bad that I used my shirts as pillow cases. My credit card has been charged 3 different times refunded once and another charge on my girlfriends card. Now I have a mess to deal with about that aswell. The service was lack there of to say the least. House keepers knocking on the door when I had a Do Not Disturb sign up. Arguing with the owner about her lack of profesionalism. Running a credit card without contacting its owner is WRONG! And that is what we are dealing with now. You will pay a cheap rate during the week but pay more then double on the weekend because its a "football weekend". When someone calls 2 weeks in advance and you quote them a price you stick to it, not charge a card without approval.

Definitely not my first choice for a stay in moscow, it is nonetheless conveniently located with reasonably friendly and efficient staff. If you're just passing through, you could do a lot worse than the royal inn. All the necessary comforts, but none of the extra luxuries. Was a bit pricey though.

I have stayed in a number of very inexpensive Mom-and-Pop hotels through out the country. This was without a doubt the nastiest place I have ever stayed. The room was filthy. The shower went from cold to scalding. However the worst part of the experience was the bed. It was musty, the sheets were hideous and I ended up with lice or flea bites all over my body. The only redeeming quality to this place is that it is 1-1/2 blocks from John's Alley! If I was back in Moscow and this was the only place I could get a room, I would sleep in my car in the Corner Club parking lot.

If you are a light sleeper forget this place! The walls are so thin you can hear conversations in the next room and outside the door. The traffic noise and sirens were very annoying. The furniture and beds are very old and uncomfortable. We had a non-smoking room, but still smelled smoke filtering in from other rooms. We paid twice the regular price, just because it was Mom's weekend at U of I. What a rip off! I won't stay here again or recommend to anyone else.
