Warning!!! Room 322
By ,
I highly recommend that you do not rent from room 322! You will be extremely disappointing! He is a very dishonest person! Don't make the same mistake I did!

Misrepresenting photos
I can't understand how they can post a beautiful photo of a beautiful room and then you get to the hotel and it's like being in a 3rd world country. I am posting photos of the FILTHY room I stayed in. Literally, the bottoms of my feet would be black from walking around on the filthy tile floor, which clearly they never clean. You get to see a cockroach show at night if you flip the lights on. There are also two dead cockroaches in the drawer of the right nightstand of room 715 where I just stayed. We had two rooms. My room got housekeeping service once during the week I stayed there and the other room never got housekeeping service. It's old, poorly kept up and truly disgusting. We would have left if we hadn't prepaid for the rooms.

Wow, really great!
By ,
We had 4 rooms and each room was different. Turns out they are all individually owned so they were well kept and very modern. One of our rooms had a full kitchen. We had gorgeous views, great service, and we got a great last minute deal from the website. We couldn't have been happier with our stay!

Some things never change!
By ,
I stayed in this hotel in 1987! Booked through SunTrips. Doesn't look like much is differnet, except the room furniture. It was a bargin back then, still looks like the cheapest place to stay in town. I thought for sure it would be torn down by now! I'm headed back to Hawaii on cruise in 2 weeks! ALOHA!

Great Value
By ,
TIP: go online or call the hotel for suggestions on which room to stay in. All of the rooms are different and some are more recently remodeled or are decorated nicer. If you can splurge would highly reccommend the sundeck suites! Front desk staff is very friendly; more then willing to help you with directions and chat about the best things to do around town. Location is EXCELLENT- close to the beach, park, food/coffee/retail shops. Parking can sometimes be tricky and rooms are not perfectly clean and spotless. Overall (depending on the room you get) a good value for the money...

I would never go back there!!!
By ,
I will never stay in the Waikiki Grand hotel again. The rooms are extrememly small and nothing like the advertised rooms on their website. The hotel is so old that instead of using a card to get into the room you have to use a KEY. Customer service is terrible because you have to call the hotel ten times before someone answers the phone. The so called ocean view is a backyard view of trees. I will NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN!!!!!! I'm just upset that I saw these postings after I booked the room. I could have saved myself over $1400.

Will go back for the sixth time
Stayed in this hotel four times. Great location and the price was right. Steps to the ocean and huge Kapiolani Park. On the Diamond Head side of Waikiki on Kapahulu where the bus lines are convenient to great eating places on Kapahulu where the locals go and the ability to stay away from the crowds (or conveniently walk to where the action is). Many of the units are owned and rented or leased out. Stayed in unit #519 once, which was totally renovated, clean and had all the amenities with a kitchenette. Athough it was an inside unit, it was quiet and nice. Other units have been remodeled and you need to ask the front desk for the better units.

Outdoor disco will keep you up all night. Depressing building.
By ,
Waikiki is sutch a lovely place, it is a shame that the Grand has not lived up to expectations. The location is perfect though, right on the park and beach with pano views of Diamond Head and the water. Still, this is very close to being the worst hotel in town. There is an open air disco on the second floor which will keep you up at night. It is right on a busy street too. Some of the rooms are quite nice, but others can be a little frightening. It is one of the few places where dogs are allowed, even big dogs. The Marine Surf takes dogs too. I would rather stay at the Marine Surf if my dog was along for the trip.
