Hilton Hawaiian Village-pricey but poor service
By Mandy, 3/8/12
It is my first time to stay in this hotel because I was attracted by its lagoon view, but it means nth to me now. First, they hung up on me because I didn't book the room immediately after they tried to sell me the promotion. Secondly, those ppls in "tropics" restaurant are horrible. No one serve you at all!!! When I raised my hand to call one of them coming to take my order, she told me I am not allowed to do that because it is rude! Can you believe what planet are these people coming from?! Do I need to starve to death before they notice I am still sitting there waiting ? Moreover, those ppls in the hotel don't smile at all! It is ridiculous I am the one paying for everything including their tips but I am the one who say "thank you" first but rarely get a reply of " you are welcome" ! I am really wasting money on this hotel because they don't deserve it!! It is even more funny that the sales person in those fashion boutiques including Japanese boutiques are not nice either. What's wrong with these ppls? I already read those bad comments via bookit and expetia about this hotel before I came, and many ppls don't recommend this hotel. I should have listened to these ppls. I don't know why many ppls still think it is nice, but my recommendation is Don't Go!!!

Frequent hotel guest
By Yankcolt, 12/11/11
I/we have stayed there numerous times over the past 20+ years. It's my favorite hotel resort in Honolulu without question. Rainbow Tower with a Diamond Head view is hard to beat. Having said that the new elevator system in Rainbow leaves a lot to be desired. They will be, I understand, deployed throughout the resort. Slow, confusing and you need an engineering degree to figure it out in the beginning. I hope HHV revisits this and does a serious rethink.

Hilton Hawaiian Village Ruined my Wedding
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/18/11
We gave my wife's wedding dress to Hilton to steam on the day before our wedding to be ready for our special day. Instead of steaming it, they washed in in the washing machine, ruining it. They offered to get us a new dress and alter it to fit the same as the old. The seamstresses who were supposed to alter the dress were not familiar with wedding dresses and destroyed the new dress as well leaving us with a terribly fitting dress . Hilton agreed to compensate us for the dresses and fly us back to Hawaii to make up for the day they ruined and told us to enjoy the rest of our time on the Islands. Upon returning home, they denied ever making these promises. Do not stay at the property and patronize these people that have no integrity and do not make good on promises they make. Do not let them ruin your dream day as well.

My encounter
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/11/11
I stayed in the Royal Hawaiian and it was a beautiful hotel; however, I was approached (after a day on the beach) and asked if I were a guest and if not, I should leave.

Was nice, but somewhat dissappointing!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/10/10
Checking in was a problem. The checkin staff said they would call us on the cell phone when room was ready, probally about a half hour. Never was notified. Had to wait again in a long line to get our room. Stayed in Diamond Head Tower. Room was nice, tho there was one small dresser, not near enough room to put anything away. And paying for a room safe, what a joke. Promised robes were nowhere to be found. Found the bed to be very comfortable. Was located above the lounge, band blasted loud music till 11:00 every night, was annoying. Was really glad there was an ABC Store on the grounds, since prices were so high elsewhere. And another thing I can't believe, after paying top doller to stay here, they have the nerve to charge you for a plastic chair for the beach, even more if you should want an umbrella. Was promised free gifts, guess what, when I checked on that, I had to listen to a Time Share BS presentation. Got wise, passed on that. Staying on resort is very overpriced. And the service is not that very friendly. 9 dollars for a beer is absurd. Went to an upscale restaurant for our first anniversary and ordered crab cakes for an appitizer. 18 dollars for 2 half dollar sized discs, which was apparent was processed preformed patties. Very dissappointing. Would realy think twice about returning to the Hilton. For what is paid for the rooms here, I would think they could offer as simple as a free chair on the beach. They totally take advantage of their quests. But I would also like to comment, the maid service was very good, our coffee pot didnt work, they sent us a replacement within a half hour. Having to check out before our flight left, they offered us a room to get refreshed in prior to our departure. A very nice touch. This resort reminds me of a tourist trap. They want to keep you on the grounds your entire stay,to spend money at their establishments. I felt trapped, until I left the grounds and went exploring. What a relief that was. Much cheaper, and much BETTER. I think the Hilton should realize, its the simple things that count,..........like giving a free beach chair,......or not making guest pay MORE to sit by the pool when a show is going on. Is that not absurd, you already paid to stay there, but you have to pay extra to get a chair to watch the show. Loved the island though, the Hilton couldnt ruin that.

WONDERFUL!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/29/10
My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon and it was SOO wonderful!!! We stayed in the oldest tower the Lagoon tower. You would not have known it was the oldest tower either. We stayed on the 22nd floor and it was great. We went the end of November to the beginning of December and the weather was great. The only problem that we ran into was that there seemed to be a slight language barrier when trying to schedule activities or ask questions. The beaches were great, the shops were awesome and the activities were incredible! I would highly recommend this place. We toured the new tower the Grand Wikkian and it was SO plush and looked GREAT! I would stay there over and over again!!!

Loved It!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/29/10
This place is the most beautiful place I've been to! It was my husband's and my honeymoon, and we stayed at the Tapa tower on the 18th floor with an ocean view and part of the skyscrapers! It was beautiful to wake up to the ocean and go to bed to the skyscapers and they were all lid and beautiful! The service was clean and we had our room cleaned everyday!!! The location is amazing and the environment was good! People helped a lot with locations and where everything was.. it was just amazing, the best time I spend in my life! We can not wait to go back!

NO GO!
By Carol D J, 2/16/10
We were to receive great discount and gifts for viewing a condo for later use. Gift: 1 light weight tote. Rudeness: Heaps. Staff: uninformed. Paid top dollar! Highlight: Walked to other facilities. Took cab to Outrigger Canoe Club. Rosalind C. Mason - a five star Counselor Was told to take #19 bus from airport! We were very entertaining.

Awesome stay!!!
By SusanH, 12/14/09
This stay was all and more then what we expected. The one bedroom condo at the Lagoon Towers was breathtaking. The room was clean and well kept. We saw a beautiful fireworks show right from our balcony and the ocean was crystal clear. The resort has so many different places you can eat at. The Lanai was great for breakfast...a bit pricey, but very good. And a variety of different places for lunch or dinner. Overall we would stay here again. Hopefully soon!

Gross
By B Morrill, 12/7/09
This place sucks. It has really gone down hill since we were here in 07. The first room we had, the drapes could not be opened. We were moved to a new room only to find it had not been cleaned and the linen not changed. We found that most of the staff were rude. We were suprised to find that the lounge in the main reception area is no longer open. Same as the Lanai resturant is not open for lunch any more. There high end resturant above the Lanai is closed as well. They now charge for everything, $16.00 a day for the internet, $3.50 a day for the safe. We will never go there again
