Good Location for Waikiki
By Bruce, 5/27/11
We chose the Marriott for best value after pricing all the name brand hotels near the beach with an ocean view. The beach is a walk across the street and very convenient. It is not a beachfront hotel. Convenient ABC store, restaurants and shops all in walking distance. Their downstairs restaurant has a bargain all you can eat breakfast buffet for $15, including a chef station to make any omelet or egg dish you want. The upstairs pool area is nice to enjoy the view with a typical Hawaiian drink like a Mai Tai. Our room was comfortable with a balcony ocean view, nice big screen TV, refrigerator. We might stay again if our Marriott rewards program gets enough points for a free night or two. Having time to explore the Waikiki area, we would on a future visit opt for a stay at the Sheraton or next door Royal Hawaiian - the first luxury hotel in Waikiki. Both have their own beachfront and fabulous views of Diamond Head. The Sheraton has an amazing pool with waterfall dropping off into the view of the ocean.

Awesome stay, awesome view!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/15/11
This was the second time our family has stayed with the Marriott. We stayed both times in the tower closest to the beach. Wonderful views of the ocean and pool. We loved every minute: the beds are to die for, so so comfortable - like sleeping on a cloud, the pool area is so relaxing - there are plenty of seats in sun or shaded areas, love the waiters/waitresses coming around - the convenience to nearby shopping, restaurants. We would stay again, and again.

Thought the menu and food on the pool patio was a little stale.

Over Rated
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/22/10
There are two towers. Make sure you stayint he renovated one. But their new air conditioning sensors don't work. Two nights of 76 degrees in the room. Check in was a nightmare. One of two rooms not ready and not near each other as requested. Used towel on the floor when we first came into the room. Probably dropped by the maid but still...No night light in the bathroom so broke my toe. No make up mirror. Have to request hair conditioner or you wont have it. Asked for more hangers and it took 2 days and another request to get them. Pool guy disappeared all the time. Parking is $28.00 a day. The staff was very nice and compensated for the problems but seems like thing are not made for a relaxing vacation. Couldn't wait to leave the hotel.

Great Hotel -- Stayed There Three Times
By Robert, 5/12/10
I have stayed at this hotel three times in the past five years, and I have found the service to be wonderful. The front desk staff was especially helpful with my own personal situation the first time, and when I went back subsequently they already had the information in the computer so I did not have to explain everything again. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, and you cannot beat the view of Diamond Head and the Pacific Ocean. At my most recent visit in January, I was upgraded to an Ocean View room without asking, and it was magnificent sitting out on the balcony just relaxing and watching the sun go down. The ABC stores on premises are very convenient, there is plenty of parking (for a fee), and they also provide a hospitality lounge for people like me who check out in the morning but do not fly back to the mainland until the evening. It is great to be able to shower and change there after a full day of being in the Hawaiian sun before heading out to the airport for a ten or twelve hour trip back to NYC. I would highly recommend, and would love to go back here in the future.

Great location, most comfortable beds
By diana, 1/12/10
We have stayed at this hotel on 3 different trips. I am amazed at the person who talked about wild dogs, we have never seen anything like that. The Marriott chain revamped their beds & bedding several years ago & it is one of the few places we get a restful night's sleep. Sansei, the sushi restaurant on site, is just awesome & we never fail to dine there. Having 2 ABC stores onsite is really convenient & being across the street from Waikiki beach couldn't make the trek much closer. On our first visit, we encountered a very slow check-in, but we never had a repeat of that experience. The staff isn't overly friendly, but they help when asked. On our last visit, our room overlooked the pool, with a glimpse of Waikiki beach & it was lovely to sit on our balcony, drink in hand and listen to the Hawaiian music softly playing from the poolside restaurant/bar. Our last visit was a Christmas family reunion & we had a really great time, very restful and comfortable, which is just what we were looking for. It's within walking distance to the zoo and aquarium and any excursion you want to take offers pick up and return trip right to the hotel door. If you can find a 'special' rate, it's even a bargain, by Honolulu standards! We will return, it's our favorite hotel in Honolulu. :)

Tropical Itch
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/13/09
At the pool side bar the tropical itch makes everything perfect. We had our honeymoon here and it was great the sushi bar sansei had excellent food and good drinks. Drinks are expensive but it's Hawaii who cares.

Was ok except for the wild dogs running in and out of the rooms begging for food and growling at people. Dont' think i will stay here again.
