24 reviews for Ramada Inn Plaza Hotel Macon, Macon
Nowhere near as bad as advertised...
By yerby, 05/01/09
I decided to give this place a try, despite the reviews I had read. Mainly because it was right across the street from where I was doing business for two days. Yeah the place was a bit dated and certainly in need of an upgrade, but I found the staff to be extremely friendly and accommodating. And to my surprise my room was actually not bad at all, and no smell. There were lots of channels on the TV and heck, they all worked, well at least the ones I wanted to watch. Plenty of hot water in my room. And I guess they must have gotten their license back or something because I was in the lounge on both nights. All in all not a bad stay in the least...maybe because I was expecting it to be so bad. I will stay again in the future and I would recommend it to others.

Hotel doesn't smell as bad as promised
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/22/09
I read 100 bad reviews and was scared when my company put me here, but despite the reviews our room does not smell, and there is hot water. However NBC didn't work during saturday night live, and our doorknob just broke in half. Other than that it's ok here, macon is scary though.

Never again
By Bruce, 11/25/08
This place is a dump. I was on the 6th floor and got on the elevator to go to the lobby. The elevator instead took me to the 13th floor and then the elevator would not go down. I had to walk down 13 flight of steps. Do not recommend when you have bad knees. The water was brown, only 4 channels on the tv. ABC, NBC, Fox, and Ga. Public Broadcasting. Hair dryer had to be wipe due to black grease on it. No drinking cups in room but who would want brown water. Tub would not drain. Take everyones else advice DO NOT STAY HERE.

NO HOT WATER
By stv, 09/11/08
so where do we start with this extreme dump? -cable TV did not work -they lost their liquor license so the lounge was closed -the sheets had stains -the pillows were strange little pillows -the place smelt musky and mildewy - but non of that bugged me as much as having NO HOT WATER! so after no shower, they offered to buy me breakfast - i had to ask if she was trying to kill me! you can't run a restaurant without hot water! This would have been a quaint resort in rural Hati- but aside from that - please take note of the reviews! this was the SINGLE worst hotel i've ever stayed at!

Need a Serious UPGRADE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/25/08
The Ramada Plaza was not what we expected for our family reunion weekend. Upon arrival the hallway had a very loud and unpleasant smell. The hotel truly needs to be closed down for remodling and upgrading. My family booked a block of rooms. One room's air conditioner was not working, another room's bath tub was over flowing, and out of fifteen rooms booked only one room was decent. Almost everyone in my family had some sort of complaint. I was very disappointed in the hotel. Some of my family members refused to stay and went somewhere else. We should have all left because the customer service was even worst. The Ramada Plaza Downtown Macon need to do better. I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND this HOTEL!

almost ok
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/20/08
Only one elevator was working when we arrived. The towels had an unclean smell. The hotel really needs a good facelift. The desk clerks were very nice and helpful. Good location and plenty of room for conventions.

I NEVER WANT TO GO BACK THERE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/08/08
Ramada Plaza Hotel Macon, Macon, GA May 3-7, 2008 Although this hotel is convenient for our conference members & to downtown Macon, I will gladly give up convenience for a hotel that is clean, well kept and fully staffed in the future! I was EMBARRESSED for our out of state guests to be exposed to such a low quality, poor excuse of a hotel. NOT ENOUGH STAFF No Valet Parking. Only ONE BELLHOP per shift. Not enough Housekeeping Staff to accomodate guests needs anywhere in the hotel, including the "in house" restaurant. It was a major ordeal to find someone to provide clean linens for the hospitality room. NASTY & in DIRE NEED OF REMODEL Parking Garage is DIRTY, UNKEPT, DIMLY LIT & UNSECURED, with NO APPARENT SECURITY. Guests Rooms, Lobbies (both Upper & Lower) and meeting rooms showed much disrepair and lack of attention to housekeeping. Room provided for our conference hospitality room was an eyesore! Ceiling tiles were filthy, Walls, Carpet, & upholstered chair bottoms were all stained, damaged and/or filthy. Tablecloths were wrinkled, & perhaps some of them had been previously used and not laundered, put on the tables after being pulled from a pile of dirty linens. Badly Soiled/Damaged Wallpaper was the norm throughout this hotel, having water/moisture stains and sloppy patch jobs after some sort of repair work (perhaps plumbing)had been done. Elevators in need of maintenance or repair work, not working several times during 4 day stay. Ice machines on several floors did not work. Several guests had problems with taking showers. Problems ranged from No Water Pressure, No Hot or Cold Water and Water going off in middle of shower, not to come back on until much later in the day. Some guests had problems with things being stolen from their rooms while they were away. Housekeeping would close guests room door completely, while "cleaning room", which seems to be an unusual practice in my experience of staying in other hotels. No TV guides were provided in guests rooms. I HOPE TO NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN. BAD BAD EXPERIENCE!!!

Needs an update
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/18/07
This hotel is in definate need of updating. It feels and smells old. Aside from the fact that it is very close to everything you might want to see in Macon it has no other saving factors. The price is not eual to the value received by far.

The place was unclean
By Tyler, 05/15/07
The hotel had an awful smell to it. It was very unclean overall. The carpet was old, worn and dirty. It needs a total remodeling just to clean the place up. I'm not normally picky about a hotel. I stay in many Value hotels but this one had just not been kept up. The pillows were too puffy. It would be okay to stay one night but I would only choose it in a bind. The staff was friendly, but would not check the room to see if we accidentally left some belongings, had to call the next morning. Most unhelpful.

overpriced
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/09/07
Thought it was overpriced for the size and quality of the room. Also there is an order as if there was water damage. Concerned about the price as there is no offer for even a continental breakfast, too.
