down memory lane
By ,
my mother and i spent many, many wonderful days at the Bucanneer Inn in mid 1980's.had a big beautiful oceanview room in 300 section.everything perfect.lost my mother in 1989 so was difficult for me to go back. i realized motel would be torn down at end of september 2007 so went back in last week of september to creat bittersweet memories.my oceanview room with balcony was clean, had early housekeeping service and many fresh towels and linens, food in resturant was very good.Brenda the manager was so very lovely and helpful to me. i've been reading the other reviews and don't understand why such a beautiful place would have been allowed to deteriorate in 2005 and 2006.but as i said, my accomodations last week were satisfactory.***Farewell to a gracious lady known as the Buccaneer Inn***

Look elsewhere

We booked a room for 2 nights beginning 9/7 two months in advance. We arrived to discover the place is slated for demolition before the end of 2007. Maintenance has been neglected for a year or more. The cancellation policy is 48 hour advance notice. so we could not get our $ back.

On it's way out...
By ,
The staff was very friendly (kudo's)...and it's hard to find a pet friendly beachfront room these days. However, there were dirty towels in our bathroom as well as the previous guests hair in the tub. The coffee pot had the previous guests coffee still in it, the iron did not work and someone had smashed a huge bug on the wall...the remains were just left there. The window looking out to the ocean was EXTREMELY smeared with handprints. Look, I did not expect the Ritz, but come on!!! This is prime season...they need to be on their "A" game!!

Dirt, Roaches, and High $$
By ,
This was the absolute worst facility I have ever stayed in during all my travels. The room was dirty. The curtains were torn and in disrepair. The sheets did not stay on the bed. We had to get our own linens and make our beds. The last day we were there, we had not recieved maid service for two days. There were roaches, spiders, and various other insects in the room. We paid $149 per night to stay in a bug infested, unsanitary "resort." The Internet pictures look great but they are completely misleading. Please, stay somewhere else and save yourself the "headaches" my family endured.

Don't waste your time/money
By ,
Perhaps the worst hotel stay of a lifetime. Filthy room complete with all the insects you might wish to spend the night with. Please (if you must stay) bring your own linen to sleep on. Not worth the cost at $39.00 per night, and no where near what I was charged for Memorial Day weekend.

NastyNasty

This place needs to be demolished. It is disgusting and filthy!! I wouldn't recommend it for anyone. You can tell that water damage is all around. It is very moldy and gross smelling. There are also bugs.

Is going to be torn down
By ,
Just came back form Jekyll where we were at a Conference. Very bad resort, run down, dirty, moldy. Found out that is slated to be torn down in September. As one guest said " It should have been torn down last year". Don't waste your money staying here.

My worst hotel experience!!!
By ,
This place is without a doubt the worst hotel I have ever had to stay in. Filthy, rundown, poor service, when you check in you can't get out of your fees without having to pay for the entire reservation. So if you absolutely have to stay at this third world hotel only make a reservation for one night. This way you'll be able to check out, go some place else and not lose your money. They don't provide a breakfast so you have to eat in their restaurant. Wi-fi is only in the lobby. The maid service showed up about 3PM with only one wash cloth, no new cups or glasses (which really didn't matter because she didn't have any coffee anyway). She never bothered to clean anything much less sweep the carpet, although she did manage to make the bed. Be sure to bring extra sandals cause your won't want to walk on the carpet and watch out for the hair left over in the bathroom from the last guest's stay.

Most awful hotel ever!
By ,
My business held its annual banquet at this facility and paid for my accommodations. Thank goodness, because I would have never stayed here (and never will again) on my own. The only good point about this hotel is that it was on the beach. Otherwise, I had NO hot water, and there were bugs in the bathroom. At the banquet, the chicken and prime rib were overcooked, and the only dinner knife given to us -- a butter knife -- would not cut through. No one at my table ate his / her entree, and we later ended up going to a restaurant elsewhere. Furthermore, my company was promised that our rooms would be ready by 10:00 am, which is before normal check-in of 4:00 pm, so that we could have an early business meeting. Instead, I had to change into business attire in a public bathroom, and when the meeting was over at 12:00 pm, I still had to wait in the lobby with 200 other people from my company until I got my room at 3:30 pm. Overall, this is absolutely not a beach resort. A hotel's location on the beach does not make it a beach resort. Don't waste your money on this place!
