Roach Hotel
By Tom, 07/06/06
Please don't be fooled by the pretty pictures you see of this hotel because once you pass the lobby area it goes downhill. When I opened the door of the first room given to me it was lined with roaches (dead & alive) along the inside of the door and all over the walls. Because my stay was during a holiday weekend I was unable to make accommodations at another hotel. Amberley provided me with another room on a different floor. This room did not have any visible bugs or insects on the walls or furniture but after the first experience I was suspicious. If one room has that many roaches then there are roaches throughout the entire hotel.
Upon further inspection I found the following:
The stove and refrigerator were dirty
The kitchen floor was sticky
The light fixtures had dead bugs in them
The bathroom had mildew stains on the ceiling
Trash was left in the hallway, windows in the hallway & elevator
Many of the doors to the back & side entrances of the hotel were unsecured
The elevators were old and filthy (my last day there~ someone urinated in one of the two elevators)
Some of the windows on the first floor were broken & busted out
The gym had about 3-5 pieces of equipment that were outdated
I stayed in the hotel for three days and Gwinnett County police were called each day for disturbances or incidents that occurred often multiple times during the course of the day.
Please note this is not only a hotel but also an apartment complex primarily for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. I applaud the hotel for providing shelter for these people but this may explain why children can be found running through the halls during all hours of the night. The accommodations theyre being provided are deplorable.
The last note about customer service
unfriendly, unpleasant and not producing apologies for their inconveniences. Please, do yourself a favor and do not patronize this hotel. Ive stayed in many hotels in the Atlanta metro area in the past ten years and this is the worst experience Ive ever had.
